Sunderland's Spanish midfielder Arnau Riera is hoping to seal a loan move away from The Stadium of Light. Riera was snapped up from Barcelona's second string by Black Cats chairman Niall Quinn in the summer, when he was in charge of first team affairs. However, since Roy Keane's arrival Riera has not had a sniff of action and he is becoming increasingly frustrated. Football League clubs have until next Thursday to complete any loan deals before the window closes until January. Riera is hoping something can be sorted for him in the next week. "It has been a bit frustrating. I would like to play and have the chance to show what I can do," bemoaned the 25-year-old playmaker. "If I am not playing, perhaps it is better for me to find a new situation and go on loan. "I need games. I am only 25 and I think the coaches agree it would be good if I can find a loan deal. "We will see what happens in the next few days. "In Spain, people know me because I played for Barcelona B for five years," he said. "But here I have not played and no-one knows me. "I still hope to find a team, though, and my agent is working on it. "I have a three year contract here and I will not go on loan to another country because I think I can play in England. "I think the manager wants to use people with more experience in England and I have to go and get that now. "If I can go and play well, I don't think it is over for me at Sunderland."
I've a friend who is a Sunderland fan and really rates this guy. Says he can't work out why he doesn't get games. Might find Oakwell a bit down-market, though.
