a brewery trip with trhe proceeds going to charity. As some of you know i work in the Joesph Bramah in town and as a company we support the Charity Clic Sargent (more details on the charity can be found @ http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/Home) and one of the ideas raised by myself to raise funds for Clic was organising a trip to one of the local micro breweries probably Acorn Brewey or Kelham Island in sheffield. Basically how it would work is that a is ticket for the trip is say £10 with £2.50 going to the charity and that would include transport there and back and tour of the brewery a few samples of the ales produced there and possibly a buffet (dependant on which brewery). All this is in the planning stages at the moment so i thought i would see what kind of interest there is out there, i have spoke to a few of our regular customers who feel it is a good idea so i thought i would throw it out to a wider audience so to speak. Like i said this is in the planning stages at the moement so no prices have been set yet so they may go up or down dependant on what the breweries will charge for the trip. Cheers Martin
Aye I'd be interested, and I guess a few others on here as we've done a couple. Probably more interested in Kelham Island, already done Acorn although they have since moved premises.
right thanks for the replies with the interest shown here and the interest in the pub there should be enough to make it work. I am ringing breweries tomorrow and will find out how much it will be and what numbers are required and then take it there so i will post an update in the next few days wil a date and price (hopefully). Tickets will have to be on a first come first serve basis and will be on sale in the pub once everything is confirmed. Again thanks for your replies and hopefully we will be able to make qa bit of cash for Clic. Martin
RE: Me please Sorry mort but you will have to pay something for the trip i will try and keep it as low as possible but bare in mind that most of teh cost will be going to a worthwhile charity
Yes. I think Mrs Rev, Vim Fuego and his Mrs would also go (depending on weekend in question) and poss. a few of the other Wombwell lot who did Wentworth back in Feb. Just one question on Acorn - are they still doing trips? Last I heard they'd stopped doing trips until they'd moved from Mitchells to new premises, but then I heard the move was off because the proposed new premises (opposite Perfecta) flooded in June.
Good stuff I checked their website before I posted to see what the latest was and it still had the address down as Mitchells. So where are the new premises, assuming they didn't move to the flooded ones?!
RE: Good stuff They've just moved to bigger premises nearby - I thought it was on same industrail estate but not sure. I read on CAMRA site that they were moved and brewing though. http://www.barnsleycamra.org.uk/news/localbrewerynews.shtml
