I didn't think it had been backdated. I vaguely remember reading at the time that he was suspended until October 2022. I could be wrong like.
Out of him and Andersen, I preferred Diaby. Andersen seemed to dither on the ball and his distribution was terrible. I thought Diaby was a solid defender, good on the ball, but always seemed a bit clumsy in and around the box. I honestly think 2 years out of the game, regardless of whether he's stayed in shape or not (which he clearly has) will be too much for him to come back at this level.
I tend to agree. I’d take him back if he was cheap, just to develop for next season. I also believe he was professional in his attitude and work-rate in training - for me he could have be captain material. However, I’d guess we’d struggle to sign due to work permits anyway
We probably won't be at this level come the start of next season so if we signed him in January he's be just right to start the new season in L1 and let's face it we'll need at least 1 replacement center half cause Helik will be off either in January maybe or definitely in the summer if we go down.
Absolutely not. Wasn't any good when we had him and not played for a few years. One of many examples of a player being remembered as better than they were once they have been gone from us a while.
I can't think of anything worse than taking Bambo back (who seems like a lovely, hardworking fella and deserving of a second chance) because I can imagine us already resigned to League 1, certain sections of the Ponty - including, depressingly, the 8 year old(ish) kids and their parents on my mum's row - singing that stupid song louder than ever, because they'll no doubt find it hilarious he's back (just to give them an excuse to sing that song) and just to spite everyone else; meanwhile, the club gets landed with more fines and bad press. No, I wouldnt take Bambo back, for his sake and ours.
