Squad player at best next season at Wolves, or even surplus to requirements? Just a thought.

    He's been a decent scorer

For the last three seasons in the Championship for Colchester United, Charlton Athletic & Wolves respectively.

    Surely wolves would want £1.5-£2m

As I think he still has 1 or 2 years left on his contract

Plus I would think he is on £15k per week at Wolves.

Wolves had a salary cap at £10k last season. You'd think he'd play some part for them though, being the only experienced target man they have.

No idea on the size transfer fee needed

And I've certainly no idea on what salary he, or any footballer for that matter, is on.
As I said, it was just a thought as to whether he'd be a possible target. After reading the figures you've quoted, he probably won't be.

cap of 10K, with extra 2K for playing, 2K for scoring, 5K for winning etcetcetc.

Be very surprised if their best players got flat 10K a week and nothing else. Or they at least got bonus 150K for promotion.

    Ultimately

The market Simon Davey can shop in will be dictated by the size of transfer fee & salary Patrick Cryne will allow. What he was prepared to make available last summer may not be the same as it is now.

Definatley a quality player, and I would be happy to see him in a Tarn shirt.

I just think the whole finacial package involved could just be out of our reach.
This transfer window is just full of silly money transfers. I dont just mean Ronaldo etc..... but players like Simon Cox going for £2m!!!

Plus how many players are more than happy to sit on the bench in the Prem than come and graft in the Championship!!

No chance ..... can't afford him and if he becomes available ..

...... anybody with top six aspirations this season would be in for him.

I think he will stay put, for this season at least, he was a key player for them last season up to getting injured

    That's very true

Even if a player is out of contract at a club, I think it's reasonable to assume he's allowed himself to be put in that position in order to obtain a hefty signing on fee from his new employers.

The more I think about it

The more I agree with it being a non-starter, mate.

Even if he was to leave

We'd need to offer him a very good contract to come here, proven goalscorer who nets 20+ goals a season, he's the type of player about 18 other championship clubs require, tbh i think he'll stay at wolves.

Pity cos a signing like that would put bums on seats ....

..... however, we will have to make do with Dean Morgan after his release by Luton! /poo

    That's the key

It'll take a lot of persuading for a Wolves player to leave - they'll all want their pop at the Prem. No harm asking though, esp for players of that quality.

If we were to ask Wolves for a striker.... Sam Vokes season long loan

Good young player that I think could really do a job for us next season...

Dont think they will give him a pop at the prem, as I dont think he has the level of experience.

So 12 months in the Championship with us would benefit all invovled:

    We get a quality player

    Player get valuable experience

Wolves get a more developed player back in 12 months

Its just a win win win situation

I wouldn't rule out that happening.

    I like that possibility

But how many on here would approve of us going for Vokes had he still been at AFC Bournemouth?
