I very much doubt it. Some people just cant wait to get on Hills back, and I think they would love to see him fail so that they can say "I told you so". we have 1 point from 2 games against preseason promotion favourites. last season we also lost to lower league opposition in the league cup. No one seemed bothered. The performance against southampton was awful but we had equally bad games, some even worse under robins except they were week in week out at the end of both his season in charge. I never heard anyone booing Robins. Hill is not only trying to gel a new group of players he is trying to introduce a new style and it will take time. Just a pity so fans had the hand to their mouths ready to boo even before a ball was kicked
Performaces toward the end of last season were better than what was on show last Tuesday and last Saturday, certainly for around 6-7 matches. QPR at home springs to mind. It is still early days for Hill. I just think there is a element waiting for him to fail, some because they were not happy with Robins going, others because of the things he has said and others because they are paying more and we've not signed owt they see as being worthwhile. Me, I'm prepared to give him time as I honestly believe that the club staying afloat this season is the most important thing given what the owner faces.
But in that side we had: Trippier Mellis McShane Harewood Shackell Who, I assume, will have been paid a damn sight more than we're paying now. MASSIVE reality check needed for some fowk. Massive. PS - Andy Gray Gray Gray played that day. And he's still to come back. Top scorer.
I don't think you should get too hung up about the booing. Previous managers have been subjecting to this and (in some cases) much worse. Paul Hart stated that he could no longer bring his family to watch the games - as the abuse was so bad. Unfortunately, it is now part of the game and I can't see this changing for the better.
I saw him Satdi. Running towards Oakwell with the biggest sweat I've ivver seen him with. I asked if he was palying and he replied "Nah, Injured". Can you see Hill playing him ahead of Davies? And yes, we did. Quality that the club can't afford.
See 'em playing together. Gray doing what he does best, busting through centre halves, holding it up for Davies to power through from wide positions smashing 'em in top corner. And Gray scoring 15 bullet headers and penalties.
Nah gi'or wit barm lad. When has he ever "bust through centre halves"? I've missed this. Andy Gray, Andy Gray, Andy Andy Andy Gray....... We only play one up front anyway
Sounds like Hemsy's got hold of thi computer...hang on a minute nar Hemsy's sat with his mother sticking in his Jac Mac pannini sticker
If Keith Hill keeps us up without any flexibility in transfer market It will be a magnificent achievement. Chairman hears nowt sez nowt and is not doing much . Who is going to entertain you tonight?
Quite openly admit I'm fond of both. In fact, I'm going to start 'repping' every one of his posts so he can finally be declared the best poster on here.
It would be a totally different scenario as, with Robin's still in charge, the squad would presumably look very different. We opted to go down a different route, hence the change of manager. Personally, I'm not sure how much of the booing is being directed at Hill/the new players vs general disatisfaction at the perceived lack of ambition from the club this season. It's almost as if those predicting doom and gloom with lower league players can't wait to be proved right, hence there's less patience being given compared to a normal 'honeymoon period' for a new manager. It's apparent to me from the drop-off in attendance that there's something more than a simple reaction to early performances going on amongst the fanbase.
How can the fans that have not turned up be booing? I think people are just trying to find a reason to blame the fans. I have no doubt that if Robins had still been here and we played that like *****, he would have been booed. Maybe the fans that love Hill would have booed instead. Remember that Robins got some dogs abuse on here last season, it is not just Hill, but as Hill has made all the talk, he has got to do the walk!! It willbe interesting to see if he can! I hope he does because that means Barnsley FC will have had a decent season, but it does seem to me that Hill is all for making himself look and sound good.
