Muller in goal

Kozluk at left back

Hassell at right back

Souza and Nyatanga at centre half.

I think that will/should become the first choice assuming Muller is as good as folk reckon.

how about hassell in the middle where he has always looked strongest

Its interesting how nobody can work out what Daveys plans are though. The back 5 today was identical to last week, but i dont think anybody expected that

Couldn't disagree much with that. Kozluk was signed (presumably) to start as left back, Hassell is clearly a solid right back, and Sousa and Nyatanga would be my first choice centre-halfs

good point and credit for that, because thats the first time I have heard him say that

I had always assumed he was signed as a right back

I assume therefore he sees bruma and Zozluk as the 2 fullbacks

But there has to be a place for Hassell

Aye, but then...

Why sign Nyatanga and Sousa? And I just can't seem him dropping club captain Reid, as much as I think he needs to

Reid

I think eventually Davey'll have no choice... much as I admire Reidy as a bloke, I'm afraid the time is coming...

I've a feeling...

He's one of them strange players who's a right footed left back...

Given you gave flak to Acton earlier about his English, Allen..

- it's 'fare' not 'fair'!!

As for a back 4 - I think you should consider Rob Atkinson in the mix as well.

Personally, my choice would be... Hassell, Nyatanga, Souza and Kozluk (R to L) - but Davey has a
reasonable choice (when all are fit) for competition when you also take into consideration Werling,
Bruma, Reid and Heslop.

Difficult to judge after one league game I grant you - but given he's played all of those personnel (bar Bobby H,
and Bruma to a large extent) in the pre-seasons, and we've not kept a clean sheet yet, it doesn't augur well
for defensive solidity this season.

Great stuff,

judging by today he looks like he could be in trouble againt any team with any pace. If he is on the other side though he might be able to show the winger to the inside.

He looked out of his depth today , which as I think you pointed out seems odd for someone who has played a good number of games for Sheff Utd over the past couple of seasons.

If this German goalie is the Schmeichel esk then we might be OK.

If he is the new Massimo Taibi then we could break the record for goals conceded.

I still think the defensive issues are as much about the midfield as anything

They provide very little cover certainly on the flanks

potentially why Davey tried togwell wide right last season, though lets hope thats not repeated
