Don't know if there's a chairman out there on day-release from a psychiatric unit or hasn't been taking his medication, but apparently it's true: http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0600...objectid=19283506&siteid=50082-name_page.html Trouble is, PR has turned it down :'( Devaney also gets a mention in the article but I wouldn't pay too much attention to our local rag. He made the Devaney link a while ago and just wants to give it a little credibility IMO. The McPhail situation is baffling. He must be nicknamed "Marmite" in the dressing room because you either love him or bloody hate him. I'm utterly convinced that one of the following is true: 1. Ridders is gunning McPhail's Mrs 2. McPhail is Ridders lovechild 3. Mcphail is keeping a dark secret about PR
£1m for a left leg ? If he plays a full season owt like he did in our run in to the play offs but at Championship level then who knows. </p> One of the highest quality players we've had in a long time.</p>
RE: £1m for a left leg ? First season McPhail was well below par. Second season he was much better. Some people didn't like him because he didn't run around like a dumbass headless chicken like Burns. Having time on the ball and being comfortable in possession is the mark of a good footballer. We would have fared better this season if we still had McPhail.
RE: £1m for a left leg ? That's the exact same arguement the pro-McPhail fans give down here. All I can say is watch him closely. You wouldn't pay good money to watch him again. Having time and being comfortable are great attributes. It's what you do with it then that is important and, IMO, that's where he's lacking.
I'd have him back like a shot , especially for the same transfer fee Cardiff paid After years of watching talentless , headless chickens in our midfield , it was a pleasure to watch someone who knew how to pass the ball . It'd probably put me in the minority on here , but yes , I'd have him back tomorrow .
McPhail and McCann are similar players............but I prefer McCann McPhail is good at making pretty pattern passes all over the field but int dangerous infront of goal McCann can tackle and score goals
RE: I'd have him back like a shot , especially for the same transfer fee Cardiff paid To replace Howard?</p> </p>
RE: I'd have him back like a shot , especially for the same transfer fee Cardiff paid I know what you mean but the harsh facts are, particularly at the latter end of the season - which everyone remembers better, he was completely ineffective and couldn't pass to save his life. In front of goal he stopped trying because when he did try earlier in the season he must have been embarrassed for himself. In his defence, I don't think it helped that the year before we had Jason Koumas playing the same role and the difference is like chalk and cheese.
Ooh Yeah Gonna Church House(Weatherspoons in Wath) soon for a few pints and looking forward to it (pint)
RE: McPhail and McCann are similar players............but Tell me you are joking!!! PLEASE TELL ME !!!!! You think McCann is a better footballer than McPhail????? I was just starting to think that you could not be all that bad , then you state something like that. McCann has the turning ability of an oil tanker, nearly the same speed and is not as frightening. McPhail was and is a classy FOOTBALLER, not a Brendan O`Connell huff and puff merchant. That said you are entitled to your opinion tho`. :$
McFrail He didn't get that nick name for nowt He aint a box to box player.........therefore he aint a midfielder He can't tackle He makes silly mistakes..............especially when passing back to his own goalkeeper (examples anybody?) He is injury prone He needs too much time on the ball (maybe ok in Premeirship?........but not championship) He does not get into scoring positions He dosen't score goals He cannot go passed a player with the ball Other than that hes ok........ (doh) ..........well he's ok at making pretty patern passing movements......although they are generally inaffective
