who says "this club will never get back into the premiership" - lack of ambition "im giving the lads, who finished 5th in league 1, a chance in the Championship" - insane New manager "this club has been in the premiership before, who says we cant do it again with a bit of time and luck?" - ambition "im going to be ruthless and drop our joeys for strikers and bring in some quality players" - ambiion to keep us in the league
RE: Who's the second option then? a manager who is ruthless a manager who has ambition that comedian southerner at MK Dons would be ideal
i know what you mean. i really want to back ritchie as he's a nice bloke but some of decisions, e.g's: not picking nardi, picking wright, not bringing hassell back in on saturday, saying izale mcleod is not better than our strikers (though he's sought after by prem cluubs), are baffling and unfortunatley football is a ruthless game and he has to go unless he gets some players in. he put his neck on the line by not signing people in the summer saying his lads deserved a chance, and now he might pay for it
fair enough give the lads a chance, see how we do hes done that and were 2nd bottom, so why still give the lads a chance? players are going on loan to other clubs left right and centre im still behind him though, because hes manager of Barnsley FC, just disagree with him
Such as? Managers who are ruthless and have to drop players have the cash to bring in better players to give them that luxury. Ambitious managers would demand the money being there in the first place to even consider taking the job. Only an idiot would come to a club like ours with no (or, at best, very little) money, fickle fans and a weak squad, and even consider talking about getting the club in the Prem. He'd be laughed at.
I'm still laughing at the 1st guy who suggested Martin Allen He did perform a miracle in order to stop Brentford going up last season.
Have you spoken to any Brentford fans about his time in charge.
It was all about Martin Allen , apparently he used to do rather well out of the clubs transfer policy.

RE: I'm still laughing at the 1st guy who suggested Martin Allen I think Dario Gradi at Crewe has a similar carry on, does'nt get a great salary, but gets a percentage of outgoing transfer deals.
RE: I'm still laughing at the 1st guy who suggested Martin Allen thats because teams like that (average 5,000 or whatever) are "selling clubs" i dont think were a selling club
What? We've always been a selling club. Admittedly, not the extent of some, but we get a genuinely good player or a decent young prospect, they're gone.
RE: What? Flinders for starters. Hirst? He was only a youngster. How old was Currie when he went first time around?
RE: What? ant a clue Flinders, good call. To be fair i thought it was the right decision to sell him becasue hed just be sitting onthe bench. May aswell sell him and use the money to improve the squad.........
Tiler, Currie, Hirst, Ward, Hignett, Flinders, Have all kept this club running Was £200K for McCarthy in 1983 a lot of money? The only time I can remember when we paid decent money for players was Ward, Sheron and Dyer When we went into the Premiership, even then we skimped and bought Eastern European bargain bucket - and that includes Hristov
i think you will find that on a interview posted on here AR said with a bit of luck we can get back to the prem!!
Doesn't matter what AR says because you lot will only find something to moan at. beggining of season half of you lot said 4th from bottom will do me, and accepted we will struggle. well guess what, we are struggling, and now half of you who said 4th bottom seem to think, like wednesday, we should be aiming alot higher. get real! AR's a realist-the first manager for a long time to be so. we aren't too far away from safety even if we're 2nd botttom. we've a bunch of players who, for once in a long time, care about the club and wanna do well, and with a couple of additions should be ok. but i stress it's about finding the RIGHT players, not just signing anyone to shut up the fickle fans. so why don't some of you stop sitting in front of computer everyday slagging AR, Shepard, the players, whoever you can think of, get to the matches and get behind the lads! rant over
RE: Doesn't matter what AR says Yes, most of us would have settled for 4th from bottom and we did expect it to be a struggle. What we also expected was that the management would be "realistic" and make those "couple of additions" to the squad that you talked about, to enable us to achieve that heady position. In case you hadn't noticed, we are gradually getting lower and lower in this division and we are much closer to bottom than we are to 4th from bottom and without some of that "realism" and those "couple of additions" to the squad, it is unlikely that we will reach the goal that we would all have been happy with when the season started.
