or would you just watch and say "more than my jobs worth - my health and safety come first"

because that seems to be the deal at c2c

Hopefully the publicity will lead to a swift outbreak of common sense but that's probably too much to hope

The story is so outrageous it has even Bob Crow appearing to be making sensible statements

I would take them for every penny, then tell them to shove their job up their nearest siding. He should be getting a recommendation (along with the others who help) not a suspension.

There seems to be a lot more to this story than meets the eye though doesn't there. They claim that the employee failed to follow the correct procedures which involve stopping the train.

Did he really help save her life or did he put many other peoples lives in danger by allowing a train to continue down the track while 'a number of people' were on the tracks rather than stopping it?

Would it not have been much safer for everyone involved if he had followed the procedures, stopped the train and helped to safely help the woman off the tracks without doing it while a train was hurtling down the tracks behind them. I know it states the train was a quarter of a mile from the station but come on, did everyone on the tracks know the exact position of the train? I very much doubt it and it is just luck that it was a quarter of a mile away and not just 100ft out of sight.

I don't think most people would even consider Health and Safety under the same circumstances. I rarely agree with Bob Crow I do on this occasion but based on the facts as reported in this case.

Well if saving a woman’s life results in suspension, regardless of pay, then there is something wrong and people have every right to be angry. They could have conducted an investigation without the need to suspend.

why - the union who are complaining will be the ones who have agreed to the suspension procedures in the first place and would want to take any company who do not follow said procedures to a tribunal
who has said he saved someones life ? have you got proof ?

Sort of what I was thinking when it was said he didn't follow procedure - maybe the first thing is to get on the phone to the signal box and get them to put the stop light on the tracks and then go get her off.
