Just wondered what the general consensus is. I've heard rumours the away shirt will be out before Open Day and BFC won't confirm or deny this. For me, the only reason ever to attend Open Day was to see the new away kit. I have no interest in meeting footballers or Toby Tyke.
Fixtures cards, fu'ck shirts With 12month sell by date on um, if the fixtures cards are ready I'll nip down for some if not they don't deserve people's time
What would tempt me to travel 27 miles would be if they organised tours behind the scenes. Look at the dressing rooms, retrace the steps where famous boots have clattered along the corridors of power. Have a look at club memorabilia. Check out the trophy cabinet (cough). Surely they could organise something along these lines - no?
More than likely unless I am away. Get a couple of jars sit at the back of the stand in the sun and let the missus act like a nipper running about getting photos and **** like that
I'd probably not attend regardless. I'm not fussed about seeing/buying the away shirt immediately as soon as it's released, I'm also not arsed about meeting players etc. Is Bobby's game on that day? Will attend for that.
Why do you attend? Genuinely interested as the only reason I've ever made the effort is to see the new away shirt and renew my ST at the same time.
I used to go for the free stuff they chucked out at the roadshow  - Ora were the best at providing stuff; I remember one year there was so much they couldn't give it all out quick enough, they had daft little comps where they gave away armfuls of stuff and at the end they still had boxes left and just said help yourself. It was great being with my dad who's over 6 foot and would just stick his hand up and grab anything that went near him. I still have a mousemat and some pens from then haha. It was well crap when we had iSoft and they just gave out little pieces of rock that said iSoft on them.
Just to have a walk round, see the players, see the stalls, see some family who and it breaks the summer up a bit. I haven't been for the last two years due to holiday but going to get down this year.
I've never been to an open day. I don't know if I ever will, but I've no burning desire to go at the moment. The release of the away shirt will have no baring on my decision though. I haven't bought a football shirt since I was a kid and I can't see that changing any time soon. I really don't care about the kit. I want it to be red, but other than that... What I'd actually like is no white bits on it and no sponsor, but as that will never happen, I don't really care. Even a really well designed shirt is spoiled by the sponsorship writing. Our shirt is also spoiled by the badge. Not the design, but the background colour. It's far too prominent, what with it being set on a white background. A good badge has the same background as the colour of the shirt/no background. That looks professional. Ours looks cheap and tacky and very much an after thought. Spot the difference: <img src="http://s7.postimg.org/syiz1mt5n/shirts.jpg"> I care even less about the change kit. It's not an away kit, it's a change kit and should only be used when we play away from home to a team in red. Barnsley play in red. Not red at home and whatever colour the kit manufacturer has given us that year away from home, just red, whenever possible, only changing if there's a colour clash. Seems I do care after all.
Oh I wish that was true - one of my pet hates is when we play away against opponents who dont have a red shirt but still play in a different colour kit Not sure if its changed recently as I only got to a couple of away games last season but definitely in the recent past we played in an away kit rather than red
Aren't we contractually obliged to wear the 2nd kit a certain amount of times? Sure I read that once.
I'd be happy for us to play in red every game unless we couldn't due to a clash. I hate seeing us play in away colours when we don't have to.
