Remember the first match back in the 3rd, 1979, sun shining, Wednesday at home !!!!! got thumped 3-0 !!!!
Yep ! 'programme seller Paul, would programme seller Paul please report to the nearest steward....er .. not the one at Blackpool's match'
Brings back memories of 79/80 and a 3-0 defeat. Leaving the game early as the cries of "Wednesday" echoed around the ground. "Could programme seller Hall please come to the main office please?" - The regular announcements throughout the game.
Paul wasn't it ?
Also it kicked off in the ground in the brewery stand, well before the game.
Ah those were the days eh ? Black eyes bust lips, shittin yersen at matches.

That's right! I think they broke down the gates behind the Spion Kop and they walked into the Brewery Stand. They had at least half of our 2,300 seats that day too. I can well recall a few hundred Barnsley fans chasing some Wednesday supporters back into the ground from Belgrave Road. And there was a fair old kerfuffle beneath the flyover. Lovely sunshine it was that day too! revenge was ours at Hillsborough later that year though - 2-0 and televised for 'The Big Match'(?). I think Derek Dougan hosted the programme? I can well recall him pronouncing Ronnie Glavin as 'Ronald Galvin' at one stage, although i think that was the following season.
Gate that day was a 'disapointing' 22360. Lots of people were expecting nearer 30,000. Often wondered what happened to programme seller Hall. Terry Curran murdered us that day but revenge was sweet in the return 3 months later when Banks marked Curran out of the game.
RE: "as the cries of "Wednesday" echoed round the ground " Anything to add or are we supposed to assume you're thinking something witty?
Well....... In my honest opinion, Wednesday have always brought a much larger, and louder, following to Oakwell.
RE: Well....... Certainly more than the 700 or so Blunts that 'descended' on Oakwell during Adrian Heath's tenure.
