About pre-season friendlies.

How embarrassing. You people do know that pre-season friendlies are primarily played to bolster the fitness of the players for the upcoming season don't you? And that results have no bearing whatsoever.

I mean, if those of you moaning are solely focussed on results, then has it really been that bad?

    Buxton 1 - 4 Barnsley

    Glossop 2 - 2 Barnsley XI

    Yeovil 2 - 0 Barnsley

    York 2 - 2 Barnsley

Results in pre-season are MEANINGLESS. Do you people understand? How many of you moaning have actually had a full pre-season under your belts? It's all about fitness and preparation for that first match. If we get tonked away at QPR 4-0, then fine, moan all you like and say that the pre-season did nothing for us. But if we go there and get a draw, or even better - a WIN. Are you really going to be bothered that we lost to Yeovil or drew with York?

Just to emphasise, lets have a look at a few other pre-season results:

    Crawley 6 - 1 Tottenham

*Spurs fans must be really terrified about this upcoming premiership season. 6-1 at Crawley? Oh dear.

    Shrewsbury 2 - 2 West Brom

*Oh no. As if WBA's upcoming season wasn't going to be hard enough. A 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury? Christ!

    Cambridge 4 - 2 Everton

*A sticky season ahead for the Toffees? On this showing. Definitely! Very poor indeed!

    Hereford 2 - 2 Bristol City

*Last seasons play off finalists? Surely not.

Now, see how ridiculous complaining about pre-season is? You fools. You silly, silly fools.

    GET BEHIND EM!

And look at yorks other pre-season results, we are not the only team to not beat them.

    (A) Tadcaster Albion - W 6-0
    (H) Leeds Utd - D 1-1
    (H) Middlebrough - D 2-2

Talking to a york fan after the game, he was impressed with us. He thought we passed the ball about really well. He was impressed with leon and howard (although not sure how because he was barely in the game for me).

It was the first time I've seen El Haimour who was best player on the pitch. Looked lively, tried to beat men, and even held his own when he moved across to the right wing. He also looked one of fittest as he was still running at the end, and even came across the pitch with the ball, then overlapped down the left and get a decent cross in.

    Struggle?

    Leeds won't struggle.

    Middlesborough won't struggle.

And Tadcaster have been in the Northern Counties East League for the past 15 seasons. They don't struggle.

People read far far too much into pre-season friendlies. Why not just bury your heads in the sands, and come on out on Saturday the 9th, you over eager, clueless pond worms.

Although, York won't lose a game this year.

    RE: Doomed

I think we'll struggle in a big way BECAUSE of Davey.

Having seen the team, the signings and the formation / selection policy that he looks set to go with I think we'll be at the same level as last year but in a stronger division this time round.

As a fan I clearly hope I'm wrong, but as a fan I have the right to express my grave concern at the decision making of our manager.
