I was convinced we'd lose, but with us, you can normally tell within the first 5 minutes whether we're up for it. And we were. If Nardiello had slightly mishit his shot after 30 seconds, it would probably have gone either side of the keeper and we'd have been infront.

Thought Danny was excellent - he has his critics and I'm often one of them, but he was sharp, lively, and hard-working. We had a few good openings in the first half and I think often we were just let down by playing the wrong pass, or timing the pass a little wrongly. Birmingham had their moments, mainly through Jerome's pace and power (played against him in Sunday league football and his power was always surprising) and I think luckily for us, McSheffrey had an off-day, though Hassell did excellently against him.

Second half, again, I thought the writing was on the wall - they were on top of us for the first few minutes, until the goal. Was screaming for Danny to square it, but it was a terrific finish in off the post. Cue delirium. From there, the pressure built again but we broke sporadically, mainly through Kyel Reid, who's trickery was outstanding today. He's such a mixed bag, but today, his effort and his play on the ball were superb, and he, along with Nads, probably had his best appearance in a Red shirt IMO.

Ferenczi had a half-chance to extend the lead, but the threat was always from corners. Jaidi seemed to win every ball, but we put enough pressure on him to stop him getting a clean one on goal. Hit the post from one scramble from a corner and I was convinced we'd concede from one, but we didn't, we held firm.

Great chance near the end with Howard choosing the wrong pass and looking for Ferenczi rather than Rajczi. Howard was quite disappointing in the last 20 minutes, IMHO. But we got the win that we just about deserved.

Barnsley fans will always support their team if they feel they're giving 100% and they did today. Good support throughout and credit to Davey for changing to the 4-4-2 and support for Ferenczi, along with 2 natural wide men who did their job.

Think everyone played their part but special mentions for Hassell, Kay, Nyatanga, K Reid and Nardiello. Thought Ferenczi looked a little laboured but still grafted very hard for the cause. The substitutes played their part too in a terrific win.

As for the incident after the game, I think Hassell was unlucky. From what I saw personally, Kay and Bendtner started the brawl, then Jerome seemed to headbutt Hassell. Danns then got involved. I'm not sure, Hassell may have thrown an arm, but hopefully if we have the footage, Danns and Hassell may get away with it, and Jerome may be punished. Knowing our luck though, I doubt it.

Well played Reds, its back in our own hands.
