Turnover of £26.7m. Losses of £2.7 million but they’ve now fully repaid a £15m loan to shareholders (which was used to fund their stadium purchase among other things), so without that they’d have been profitable. Wonder if this will stop people saying they’re being bankrolled? They’re just using their contacts to make their club profitable. Probably one of the most financially healthy clubs in the country because of it, too.
That turnover includes £13m of sponsorship, sponsorship which is mostly valuable because they happen to have a TV show on Disney+. They're financially healthy as long as that show maintains interest. While they aren't being directly bankrolled by the owners a huge amount of their income is dependent upon their continued high profile.
Never disputed that. Their owners have opened up new revenue streams for them which wouldn’t be available to most clubs. Just think it’s a bit silly to lump them in with clubs like Man City who obviously funded them in shady ways or Birmingham etc. who do have owners racking up silly debts to try and get promoted. Just reeks of jealousy to me.
I keep getting shot down whenever I bring up Birmingham's buying the title, so I ain't going to bite!
Couple of stats for context: £11 million in wages in L2 47.5% of that revenue came from the UK nearly all the rest came from North America. Matchday revenue increased by £2million mainly from fitting a temporary stand where the Kop was. Year before they lost £5million with a turnover of £10.5milluon and had debts of £15million in loans to shareholders, In short it appears they need to keep Netflix interested or find some significant revenue moving forward.
If only we could get a Hollywood actor to launch a syndicated reality tv show for us as well. <eye roll>.
Jealous of who though? The small number of loyal fans that supported them when times weren’t great, ie for most of their history? The fans that have just conveniently remembered they have a football club in the town? The foreign ‘fans’ that just learned of their existence.
Disney using the LGBT & minorities to further their pockets, pretending to be an 'ally' and yet remove any black person from the film when releasing in China or remove any gay scenes when releasing in Africa/middle East. Etc. Certainly call that shady.
No chance they’d take over someone like us. It wouldn’t make such a good story for their vanity project - No ‘rags to riches’ story to be had. When these guys bought Wrexham in 2021 for £2.5m we were heading for the championship playoffs, they were non league. Barnsley FC don’t need to be subject of a documentary. We didn’t need rescuing from non league, and we already have a decent fanbase. We just need our current owners to do a better job, for their own sakes as well.
