I've brought this joy in to three peoples' lives today. I thought everyone knew it was the best feeling in the world

Never heard of it before. Have I missed out on something massive here? Like hula hoop or roller boots?

Ok. So I've just had my first banana scribing experience. I don't get it? It's like writing on any smooth surface. I missed fook all in the 80s then.

Aw, what?! Not even the slight bit of give as you press on, the beautiful flow of the pen as it glides along the surface, the perfect formation of the words, the fact you're writing on a banana??

Really? Writing on (and finding it amazing to do so) a ******* banana int freaky is it?

Bit weird at least. As was my idiotic suggestion which was deadly serious.

    Sigh.

    Weird, mate.

But I can't help asking you how/when/why you first did this?

Dunno, thought it was something everyone was taught when they were a kid. Like those pointy things off the top of plants that you could chuck at girls' hair and it would stick

I know a MUCH better Banana trick than that

... especially if you have kids.

all you need is a pin or needle, and a banana.

Tell your kids you're going to get them to chop up a banana, inside it's skin, without peeling it.

Then you go through the nonsense of waving around the banana, showing them that it's whole, let them inspect it etc.

Then get the kids to pretend they are karate chopping the banana, five times.

Get the kids to peel the banana, and wow, there it is in five pieces.

    How?

Prior to giving the kids the banana, and out of their sight, pierce it with a needle, and then"drag" the needle through the inside of the banana as if you're cutting all the way through it. Remove needle, there will barely be a visible mark.

Remove pin, and then repeat 4 times.

Best thread title that's been on here for a long time.

Unfortunately, it's Thursday, I do the weekly shop on a Friday, so by this day of the week all the bananas have been eaten. Can't wait to buy some tomorrow and get writing.

Just what is so great about writing on a banana ?
I would never do it because I find the feel of a banana is disgusting, even worse when they are peeled !!!

Why would anyone write on a banana in the first place? I'm with Ponty here, I just don't get it.
