Assuming that’s from 1980ish the last time we were in the 3rd division (not tier) A Barnsley season ticket (seat I assume ) of £44 then for 3rd division football equates to £259. Today, Surprised at that, tbf. Given how players wages have in general far outstripped the equivalent average by x10 at least. Earliest I could find was 1984 £11K pa. Also noted some clubs There are season tickets costing more than an individual matchday price potd for a full season. Southend Div 4 dearer or equivalent to almost half of first div. Clubs,
Sorry, 80/81 season, yes. And I guess the post should have read WSU, assuming the ST price is for seats.
Interesting to see the clubs, even in the 2nd division, who are no longer in the top four tiers. Grimsby, Notts Co. and Wrexham for example. Sad losses in my football history but they allow for newcomers to take their place.
so 7 quid in todays money to stand each game, shows its not the working mans game anymore , what is it now 28 on average
