Surely this isn't news? Been same all season, excellent shot stopper, especially before his injury, very average/poor elsewhere
He was so slow to react to De GV’s backpass afainst Cambridge, and moved like he was towing a bus for today’s penalty incident. Very poor anticipation.
Agreed but Mccarts pass was ridiculous - especially knowing what his keeper is like. He also left far too much space for the goals. We are crying out for Pines.
He hasn't though has he lol? You could clearly see the difference. Pines wins balls in the air when opposition is challenging. McCart can't. McCart should be a squad player at most.
People slagging Roberts off fans need to look how many tines he won us games stats say he made more saves than any other keeper in league if wasn't for them saves we be middle table
I wouldn’t defend McCart. I don’t think he’s up to this level - though to be fair to him, he operates in a shockingly poor defence. However, in terms of Pines, I’m never keen on eulogising a player (or writing him off) after 20 mins. The fact is, for this season, that signing/gamble hasn’t worked because he didn’t play for ages and then got crocked pretty much after he started. He may come off, he may not. But this season, he hasn’t.
Why’ve we got a hard ‘on for blaming the keeper? There’s two defenders free from the wall offering nothing….
I dont understand why you keep saying 20 mins mate. 20 mins is completely different to 4 games, 2 of which he scored in, also against Derby & Bolton, 2 of the better teams in the league. Its not a huge template to go off but there's certainly enough there to see what he offers in comparison to McCart. We are unfortunate with his injury but to suggest we dont have some information on him is just disingenuous
But you have a wall one side and the goalkeeper on the other..As a keeper you don't position yourself behind the wall that's the point of the wall. If a free kick taker scores going up and over the wall you say well done but to go in to a virtually undefended side is criminal.
At the start of the season Roberts was gaining us points with his saves. I saw a stat the other day that we have the second most saves in the division. That says a lot in my opinion. There’s now some daft goals creeping in. Their first today the wall should’ve been a lot better and I’ve no idea why he takes a step to his left, means he will never be able to get back across. His shot stopping cannot be questioned but other areas of his game need some work. I guess that’s why he’s on loan with us rather than in the Boro team.
Sorry, I wasn’t ignoring you - I’ve been out. I was simply using 20 mins as a metaphor. The point I was making ((or failing to make) was that the brief amount of time he’s actually been on the pitch isn’t enough to work out whether he will be good for the Club or not. I don’t believe any player should be judged on such a short period. So to say ‘we are crying out for Pines’ seems a bit premature imo. What is clear is that, in terms of making the difference to our success this season, the signing has failed.
I naively thought we were really onto something with Donny Pines, with his brief few appearances and few goals. So is it just coincidence then, that the new found confidence at the back has gone again, as hes been missing.
