questions need to be asked as to why we didnt go in for chopra. he would have sold extra season tickets and put bums on seats. he clearly wanted to join us and the players wanted him. so knowing other clubs were making him offers our club bloody says "we havent persued him yet". and losing mcphail too. why have they told the yorkshire post about the letter before our own club website ? doesnt the club website ever get exclusives ? the lack of ambition shown is worrying by not getting even one of the two players. no doubt the players who come in will not be up to the standard them two are. expect a season of struggle.
"Lack of ambition" Lord, give me strength. You do remember what nearly happened a few years back, don't you?
FFS
It's only 13th of June, were unambitious because we havent signed someone yet?
Mcphail is a League 1 player, and will not be missed

"Chopra would have sold extra season tickets" How? Short of him actually being in the ticket office selling them. The majority of people who know the name are those that saw him for us when he was on loan, people who had season tickets then will be renewing regardless - you don't have a season ticket in League 1 and then not bother once you've got promoted (unless there are other circumstances like moving away), many others are buying season tickets either for the first time or after a lapse because we are back in the Championship regardless. I don't think he would have been the big "box office" signing that many believed him to be….not denying he would have been a good signing for us and I would have loved to see us get him, just being realistic as to his attraction as a draw to bring the fans in.
RE: and so it starts It's only 13th of June too, I can understand if it was the 5th of August but it aint
The chairman gets my full support on this.... And if any of the other 5 players who ain't signed are after more money than we are offering, they wont get it. Shepherd knows what we can afford, and he's not prepared to exceed that...... Is that lack of ambition???? No It's a sound business head! If mCphail was after silly money, let him go somewhere else and get it.... Doesn't mean he will have a better season. I want 11 players on that pitch playing for the club and its badge, not just for the pay cheque.
Who is Sheppard? Where is the lack of ambition? Just because the club are playing by the rules and not divulging to all and sundry who we are after doesn't necessarily mean that offers are not being made. Barnsley Football Club is a business and like all businesses no employee is indispensable, employees come and go. They cannot expect to be better treat than any other and cannot hold the employer to ransom with the "I want ? mentality" The club has come a long way since Mr Shepherd took over as Chairman, and Mr Cryne put in his own money to steady things. I trust them to do what is necessary for the club to continue going forward. I also have faith in Andy Ritchie to say what players he wants to keep and who he wants to bring in.
RE: Who is Sheppard?

That's the most common sense I've read !!!
And from a girlie as well

Why thank you kind Sir, I'll have to go for a lie down now, it's too much talking common sense and football you know! ff ff ff
Can you at least spell his name correctly ... ... before you start slagging him off? Perhaps you prefer Mr Ridsdale to be back in charge?
RE: admin little boy.... admin.... yes i remember admin too. but if you dont offer the player (chopra) something in the first place he cant turn us down.
