Ok, do I save a bit extra and get the 360, or do I save a lot more and get the PS3 in a few months?</p>
X-Box 360 the ps3 is over priced and is an inferior machine to the one in america and asia. not a patch on the x-box
I heard rumours of an X-Box 360 price drop. If true, it might help to make your mind up. The PS3 is sure to come down a bit also (although much later in the year). Are you wanting one immediately?
The only thing putting me off.... the xbox is i've heard a lot of people complaining that their 360's just die for some reason or other, seemingly for no apparent reason.</p> Always trusted Sony's products though, but the price-tag really is off putting.</p>
RE: maybe this will help you make your mind up True about the X-Box dying on you, and normally within weeks of the 12 month gurantee up!!!! You get 'Red lights and you can't turn it on. Costs £85 to send back to Microsoft. Quite annoying!!! Overall though, great console especially if you are on 'Live.</p> As for the PS3, reviews are mixed but mainly due to the price of it!! Release titles aren't too bad, and some of the near future games look amazing. Don't expect a price drop for about 12 months though.Picking mine up at midnight tonight!</p> I've always been a Sony person, but got my arm twisted to get the 360 12 months ago. I've enjoyed it but very games that I have really, really enjoyed.</p>
I have always had Sony systems (PS1 and PS2) but went for the 360 when it launched and have loved it, in general the games and graphics are great. The system itself can be a bit noisy but I have had no failure problems with it. Having said that, I have still ordered the PS3, this it will outstrip the 360 once the game producers optimise their output - on the 360 thisi took 6 - 12 months .... Gears of War and Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Vegas probably using the 360 the best so far.
What puts me off both Is that unless you invalidate the guarantee you can only play games bought here...theere are games that aren't sold in this country that I'd want, so instead I'll get a new PC and get them for that.
Gi orr </p> Its not inferior to US and Japan, you mean just because of that emotion chip? It won't matter because they'll have emulation software to play the older games.</p> The PS3 will p*ss all over the xbox over the course of time. Only xbox fans would ever say its vastly better than a PS3, because in fact, it isn't.</p> XBOXhas a better games lineup, but you'd expect that 12 months down the line. Technically the PS3 is better, so in due course so will the games.</p> Question is can people afford it, cos its bloody dear.</p>
RE: it's about time that regions for things like that Overheard in Virgin in NY last week - an English women who had bought a DVD, only when she had paid for it did the assistant tell her that DVD's bought there probably wouldn't work on a UK machine and then he refused to take the DVD back! Not everyone is aware if they have a multi-region DVD player or how to make it multi-region.
RE: Gi orr i've always been a playstation kinda guy but i'm a little pissed off about how they've treated europe with the ps3. launch put back so they could concentrate on the others, over priced over here, and it won't play all ps2 games. I think I might not bother with either for quite a while yet
It was a fact that the X-Box was better than the PS2. Even though I had a PS2 I ha nothing against the X-Box. The only reason the PS3 has took so long to release wasn't to make it better that the 360 it was becuase they messed up big time with it. Theres not much dufference at all between the two. The X-Box is compatible with the top version of HD TV while the PS3 uses its own top version only which is just about as good but only compatible with the top Sony TV's. All in all they are very simular machines and nothing in it aprt from the Fact that the 360 has bought the rights for Pro Evo's and FIFA and I thing Grand Theft Auto 4. I've had my 360 since it came out and I've not had any problems with it. Check these out. http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6125087/index.html?type=tech http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-348-1.htm
By the way if your not using these without an HD TV. Sort one out, since I got one the differences are amazing.
Not strictly true .... ... a lot of the 360 games are region free and even the NTSC games play on PAL machines. www.playasia.com have info on their sites as to what versions work on which machines for each game. Makes the games quite a bit cheaper as the Japanes versions usually have english as well - I got gears of war for roughly half price from them. As far as I am aware, the PS3 is completely region free for PS3 game, just the DVDs and old PS2 and PS1 games that will have region protection.
RE: Gi orr </p> I can see why the hard core European Playstation fans (i'm not one of em mind) have been p'eed off by them over the delays, but they'd have been even more p'eed off it they'd have released it with a very small number of consoles available. Sony know they've dropped a bollock with this launch, but at least anyone getting one tomorrow can getactually get hold of a PS3 and a decent lineup of games. Unlike the Japs who had 5 games to chose from or summat.</p> I think one of the main reasons its not selling like hot cakes is its heavy reliance on HD technology. Not everyone has a HD telly and it seems a bit daft paying near 500 sheets for a blu ray HD games console only to play it on your portable CRT in your bedroom. </p> I've got one coming tomorrow, but I wouldn't have got one if I didn't have a decent telly.</p>
