Can you save a game that you have started if there is no hard drive on the console? Just wondered if it had some 'built in' facility to do this, or if you have to buy a hard drive or USB Flash Drive Thanks in advance
I believe that game saves can now be saved 'In the Cloud' so no need for a hard drive or USB Key. Although you'd still require a HDD if you have downloaded content. http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/game-saves-in-the-cloud/cloud-save-games
Bit technical for me that mate! My eldest lad has got 2 consoles, one at my house and one at his mothers. He moves the hard drive between both consoles depending where he's staying at the time. My stepson now wants to use the console at my house when my other lad isn't around, so I've bought him a new controller and a game, but now I'm wondering if he will be 'back to square one' everytime he plays the game but then has to switch it off. Don't want to spend more money on a new hard drive or the USB thing if the console can save his 'progress' without these, even if the memory capacity of the console is low 'cos he's only got the one game at the moemnt. Does that make sense??!!
It depends which version Xbox it is. Some versions have built in flash memory. 256MB, 512MB or 4GB which you can save games to. The ones without, you either need to save to USB Stick, hard drive or official Xbox Memory card. You can get USB sticks pretty cheap these days. This 8GB one is £5.00 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sandisk-cruzer-8gb-usb-sdhc-memory-5-play-com-1138155
Ok mate. Thanks for your help. It is quite an old version, and when I was setting the game up for him it said I couldn't make him a profile etc, so I'm guessing it will need a USB stick or hard drive etc. I'll get him a USB stick, that should at least mean he's not continually starting the game every day at level 1!!
