Hey it's Chris, does anyone know where i can get a samsung DVD drive at all??

mine's extremely tempremental. i'm not too fussed if it used just so i can actually play it...

i bought it second hand but since i opened it to find the fault it'ds not so easy to take back..

i had a look at a console repair shop in chester and i'd rather not pay double the cost of the console so if anyone's got any info i'd be very grateful.

    And he's used his brains

He knows that nobody reads his mum and dad's posts anyway so he's using Laura's to increase his chances of getting a response.

And in answer to your question, i've found a couple of sites on the net that are selling replacement samsung drives for around £55-60 which isn't exactly cheap. If you've got any idea what's actually wrong with it though (ie is it the laser thats just not reading properly?) and can get it back together properly then you can buy a replacement laser for 15 pound (ish).

I've also just spotted one on ebay (second hand I think) for a buy it now price of £37 here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XBOX-REPLACEMENT-SAMSUNG-SDG-605-DVD-DRIVE-WORKING_W0QQitemZ300061415813QQihZ020QQcategoryZ91526QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    it's chris again

hmmm... it could be quite fun to attempt to install a new laser. and yeah it is the laser cos the cables are fine as is the motor in the drive.

but 37 is a bit much since the xbox only cost me 50... coulda bought a new one for 80.

    thanks muchly,
