My mate has gone to live in South Korea for a year and has leant me his xbox. I've had it about a month and got in tonight and turned it on and it isn't working and the green light has a red ring around. Now I've heard of a mythical thing called the "red ring of death" from people who have xbox's. Is this it? Is it a problem? Will it work again??
Not likely.. it might work for short spells but until rectified its had it.... If you are any good inside computers or electronics then its an easy repair get a kit from ebay, there's a lad in tarn sells em .
I sent mine back to microsoft after I had phoned them about the R.O.D. They repaired it free of charge.
My lad has had the ROD twice now. Microsoft have repaired it free both times. They have extended the warranty for this to three years as they've had so many problems. He also got a one month x-box live membership both times. You have to contact microsoft & they will give you details of where to send the box to. The postage was free also. Only downside is it took them about four-five weeks to get it back to us.
RE: He's not having a good week is he? He was also very hungover in school yesterday and feeling rather rough.
If it is the 3 red lights of death - then you will get it fixed for free, but you will need your mates account details so theycan E mail the shipping details. They are coming back in a week now - still with a free month on live. Even with reliability problems the X box walks all over the PS3 in terms of price, games, live etc etc. (hidebehindsofa)
Agree with that Chief............. Xbox live is just awsome!! Had ROD myself abit ago, sent it back and they sent me a new console, it arrived within 2 weeks. No problems since.
I'd rather have a ps3 because the games differ slightyl, and the PS3 has all the games i want, and has the plus side of free internet connection.
