I guess it was worth going for the laugh we had at the goal. Golbourne spooned one up in the air from out on the touchline, he completely miss-hit it and it looked like it would just sail over the bar, but the ball started dip, so big Brian Jensen had the simple job of catching it or tipping it over the bar. But he made a complete hash of the situation, knocked the ball against the bar and Danny Rose sneaked in to volley it home. We needed the opposition to **** up because we were never going to score without some help. The stats may say we had a couple of efforts on target, but we didn't really. One effort hit the inside of Marlon's leg and trickled through to the keeper and Jimbo misdirected a weak cross at Jensen, but that was it. Not that Burnley tested Steele. After the sending off they gave up all hope of winning and settled for a replay. I think if they had made the effort and tried to beat us they probably would have, even with 10 men, but they didn't even try. It looked like we were going to see a full 90 minutes without a shot in anger on target, but Jensen came to our rescue. Rose looked lively when he came on, I'd like to see him get a start ahead of Dagnall who simply hasn't got it, even if he does try. It's a win, at home, probably deserved as at least we tried to take the game to them, so I'll take that. Here's to a lot more of them in 2013 than we got in 2012.
"Spooned one up in the air" Love it, haven't heard that since school! Were Burnley playing with a rush goalie to even the number of outfield players up?
What was the view like from your new seat? I tried waving, but you obviously couldn't pick me out amongst the masses in the Ponty End.
Re: What was the view like from your new seat? Couldn't believe how empty the Ponty was. If there were more than 500 in there I'd be very surprised. East Stand Upper is alright but everyone is too posh. I was out of my comfort zone.
Re: What was the view like from your new seat? You mean it was a well judged cross which swung in the air and deceived the goal keeper and Rose with brilliant anticipation got in the right place at the right time to skillfully place the ball in the net. COYR
I've noticed that, too, about the East Stand fans I know my place and it isn't amongst all those posh folk in there.
If you want atmosphere mate you don't want to be in East stand upper. You never get a sound from them. If you shout out they all turn and look at you. Burrrrtt they have Sky on the monitors at half time
I understand they sell quails eggs, scallops and smoked salmon in a white wine reduction instead of balti pies in the east stand. Is this correct?
He's not the worst player I've seen for Barnsley at this level. But he's the worst I've seen who has played so many games.
