Reading a few posts tonight about travelling (LDRed - good man) and about life outside the Championship and just wanted to draw some attention to Yeovil Town being top of League One. A mate of mine in Northants ("home" for me when in the UK) is a lifelong Yeovil supporter and makes the trip down there for the vast majority of games and having endured some very lean years and severe financial strife I actually wish I was in the UK now to buy him a pint and ask "So. Yeovil. Top of League One. What's that all about?" It's something only supporters of unfashionable clubs like ours could appreciate.
Being surrounded by Celtic(and Rangers) fans always infuriates me when it comes to success. They sit back and expect the trophies to come rolling in, and can't understand all the fuss last season when we were 7th in the league, or even when Motherwell qualified for a Champions League qualifier, they just don't get what it's like to work for success instead of just waiting for it to fall into their laps. I hope your Yeovil supporting mate is loving every second of being top of the league, if that was me I'd be looking at the league table every hour and making sure all my non BFC mates were well aware of our position on top of the pile!
It's nice to see small, unfashionable clubs doing well. I completely agree about the fans too; it really annoys me when TV pundits and journalists say things like "oh those Liverpool fans are the best in the world or those Newcastle fans are the most loyal fans in the country". Are they hell, it's easy to support successful clubs; the best fans are those who put in 1000's of miles year in year out watching their club despite there being nothing to really get excited about and when success is reaching the fourth round of the FA cup.
Re: And now beating Donny 2-0 Oh, and Hayter scored for Yeovil. Better and better. (I'm trying to distract myself from the nervy ending at Oakwell)
