I do not post here very often but some of the crap I have been reading on here about yesterdays game needs a response. Here are some simple facts about yesterdays game: 1. For the first 55 mins we totally dominated the game. 2. Even with this domination we never had that cutting edge. THere was no Barnsley player other than the (no)strike partnership who I can critisize during this period. 3. Bristol made two subs who started to turn the game and were starting to dominate the midfield. At this point Macken was totally ineffective. I and those around me we thought that at this point Butterfield should come on for Macken but the stupid welsh chap did nothing. 4. Bristol score, now the welsh chap will do something. Gues what nothing. 5. Bristol Score again, surely now caution to the wind Both Macken and oddjob off to give fresh options. The welsh chap does nothing. Not even a token sub at 90 mins! Yes I was one of those who stayed behind to boo yesterday. My booing was not directed at the players nor was anyone elses around me. It was directed at the Welsh Chap. I have until now thought he could do a reasonable job for us but yesterday I joined the Davey out gang. We lost yesterday because of his tactital ineptitude, and his inability to see that our (no) strike force is not good enough. And before any of you keyboard warriors start pontificating and screaming that you should never boo. I paid for that right yesterday by spending over £90 pounds on trains, taxis and entry to the ground (for those that know me that does not include beer!). I know a lot of the 200 or so who are regular travellers can ill afford the money they spend watching BFC but they do so because like me they like me love our club. We need to a striker now and sad to say we need a change at the hem!
Well said,London Tyke,i could not make it yesterday due to work, i too used to say "the welsh chap" could do a job for us ,but after seing the ipswich performance the other night, this team not only needs a striker,it needs direction. i am not looking forward to tuesday night, mind you remember a couple of seasons ago we lost 3-1 and the day after a certain mr spackman got the sack.
I know you'll say thats its for other reasons.... But I genuinely don't feel like spending money on away games at the moment. Its too much money to watch us throw away opportunities to win games like we do. I spent £30 this weekend and have had a belter, aside from the 90 mins of texts and phone calls from 3pm yesterday. If I'd have spent that £100 plus yesterday I'd be sat here wit proper monk on. As it is, at least I can say that I saved some cash. Bad state of affairs, cos I usually hate missing matches, but I'm not off to Wednesday either (£70 just in petrol) or Derby. I'll re-evaluate after that. After what you told me about being over run in midfield whilst Jacob was warming the bench i was disgusted. If we don't sign someone sharpish, we're ******. Hopefully we're not ****** regardless
absolutely NO point in putting "the Welsh Chap" down on here.Too may of his 'love Children' they infest this board mate. They cannot or rather WILL NOT entertain any suggestions of the "Welsh Chap" being anything less than the Messiah.Deluded , yes sad they are.I do not even think they will come out of their "we (heart) Simon" funk even if he took us to the Unibond league. They are more to be pitied than scorned though matey. They are like the doting parents at the school on "parents evening" you know , the ones who simply cannot or will not accept that their little Angel is no more than a failure and a brat. Or the spoiled kid with his/her fingers in their ears yelling " LALALALALALALALAALALALAA CANNOT HEEARR YOOOOU" SAD AINT THEY.
Davey knows the strike force isn't good enough why the hell do you think he signed Boggy and is going for Mifsud. ffs.
He's know it a long time but strikers are hard to attract to our Club.
It just makes me angry when the muppets come on here saying he isn't trying to sort it out.
When the average wage in the Championship is over £200000 you don't need to be a mathamatician to work out how many people you need throgh the turnstiles to pay that kind of wage.

Yes it is hard to attract players to our club. We do have certain financial constraints but we also have an incompetent manager who can't even attract good kids let alone experienced players. Do you think that the likes of Paul Ince, Nigel Clough, etc. would have the same difficulty, because I don't. Players look for a manager who they believe will improve their standing in the game and they know that with Simon Davey, that is extremely unlikely. For goodness sake, wake up and smell the coffee.
Ince and Clough are both unproven at this level and it's not the manager a player joins a club for it's the ££££££££££.
We have had players years ago like Hendry who have joined us for less money but that was because they were near the end of their career and wanted first team football.

Transfers etc aside I think there are some more serious problems such as:- Where was plan B yesterday? Their subs won them the game. Why was Odejayi played as a right winger when one of the best right wingers in the league was playing "deep" again or on the same wing as Disco? Why was Butterfield not given a chance? IMHO he has been the shining light over the last few weeks when he has come on and was champing at the bit yesterday. For me its not just a lack of players it what is happening with the players we've got on the books. One positive for me yesterday was Bobby Hassell. Always gives you 110%
Dear Mr Coachman, Firstly I am not a Muppet, I am highly successful in my chosen occupation and have the responsibility for staff across 5 countries and work for one of the largest banks in Europe. If I or my directors had indentified a clear weakness in our business it would be my responsibility to sort this weakness. Failure to sort this weakness would mean that not only had I failed but most importantly the business could fail in its objectives. I do not disagree that attracting players to Barnsley is not easy but sorry, the Welsh chap accepted this job, his job like mine means that he lives and dies by the performance of his team and should the results not be to the liking of his superiors’ or us its customers (you & me) then he must like me face the consequences of this failure.
A little bit like yourself then? I can remember plenty of things you've refused to accept over the years, and you've definitely taken the "lalalalalalalalala cannot hear you" stance before. I think you fail to understand the difference between blind support for the manager (which he doesn't have from anyone), and some fans who are in favour of giving him more time. For the record, I've NEVER seen anyone call Davey the Messiah, did you make that one up at the same time as the Hungarian takeover?
Great post London Tyke! Everyone who spends good money following the Reds has a right to express their opinion wether it be booing the players or the manager (Rightly or Wrongly).People like yourself only resort to this because they CARE for the welfare of the club. Its called PASSION. I was at Burnley on boxing day where I was proud of the performance from the players and I wouldn't have predicted the dreadful run that January has brought. I'm not the Welsh Chaps greatest fan but lets not press the self destruct button just yet. Lets see what happens in the next 48 Hrs Re:Transfers and if the right players are added then hopefully we will begin to climb the table. Simon Davey is human like the rest of us and I believe he'll be hurting! Lets get behind the lads at Washday and Hope February brings a little more cheer than the previous month.
RE: A little bit like yourself then? How much more time does he need for you to realise he is out of his depth?? Ritchie got three months and £150k - Davey has had hundreds of thousands of pounds and over two years and we are no better off
Davey as known the strike force hasnt been up to it before now but as wasted thousands on bringing in rubbish or players who have not been given a chance to remedy the situation, for this alone he should be sacked while there is still hope,if he isnt we can say goodbye to this league.
RE: If your staff make a mistake, do you boo them? I evaluate whats best for the business and move forward!
You didn't answer my question! Do you think Ince or Clough would have the same difficulty in getting experienced players to sign for this club. The argument that they are unproven at this level doesn't wash, because neither is Simon Davey. Your second point actually disproves your own theory. Hendry came for less money because he wanted 1st team football, Why did he want 1st team football? Because in the long run it means more money.
A more serious question Where exactly did JCR play yesterday? Was he still picking up balls from Müller on the edge of the box? To continue the business analogy, when you are trying to "evaluate what's best for the business and move forward", there are bad times in business when you can't think of the next move and how to change things. However, you know you can't just carry on with the same strategy if it is not bringing results. Therefore you MUST change something, even if you don't know why you are doing it. If this is true, then why are we still playing JCR where he is? Where is the evidence to back up the decision? I was one of those prepared to give Davey every chance, but the perplexing use of JCR in recent games has bamboozled me.
