yesterday's ref

    I'm not sure whether it's just because things are shown in a different light on TV, but did the ref actually have quite a good game yesterday? Both myself and the bloke I was watching the match with (also a reds fan - yes, there's two of use here!) agreed that he got most things absolutely spot-on, apart from bringing the play back for a late tackle in the first half, and then not booking their player. Made no sense as should have definitely played advantage, but other than that he seemed to handle the game very well.

    I thought he seemed to shy away from anything important

    Kept the game flowing though. Quite what he'd have done had Hayes not scored I don't know - would he have pulled the game back and given the penalty?

    I thought at the time that the reason he didn't book the tackler in that incident was because it was Koumas, who had already been booked, and therefore that he bottled a sending off. Not certain that was the case though.</p>

    He clearly set out with the intention of a booking, but then drew back.</p>

    Otherwise he had a good game and TV apparently proved he got the big decisions right.</p>
