Just had a great anniversary night out in York, with my wife. One of the pubs we went in was the Golden Fleece, missis told me the hand dryer went off by itself in the toilets!! Not convinced about all that stuff myself but did have a great pint of theakstones old peculiar and some interesting ghost stories from the bar man, like I said not a believer but great stories, that should get the custom in. Anybody got any interesting stories of ghosts and the like??
Massive steaks served at the Mason's Arms. Also, my mate once went home with the landlords daughter and she wanted to put a police truncheon up his bottom. Much scarier than any ghost stories.
One of the top spiritual mediums, was a Northern Irishman called Albert Best. Who was George Best's Uncle, through results and also he never asked for money. There's a lot of hoax's out there, but one way to known if you may be on to a genuine Psychic is they will never, ever take your money.
I was in there a Saturday night mate, it's supposedly the most haunted pub in the uk....err or it might just be in york
Did you talk to the bar man? Really interesting bloke (suppose its all for trade) but got back to hotel and lady at reception said it was a load of rubbish as she used to work near there and they were just stories. Great atmos tho, I'd love it if tarn was like York, great place.
Was there on Sunday. York is by far the best City in the North of England. That landlord is full of stories, he told me that the bell quite often rings on its own when everyone has gone to bed. He also told me that there weren't any foundations laid which is why it's all warped and why it creaks all the time - all adds to the spookiness.
I know a few people who say nar load of rubbish old lad but not one would spend the night there! Bet that would be good for a laugh, it is a spooky old place, 500 years old I think. Prior to that we had an Italian and that is 700 years old! He had some stories as well, great night great town
cannon hall is ment to be haunted the italian restraunt up ardsley hill that used to be called black monk is also haunted
'mill of black monks' was on grange lane (virtually Lundwood)...not ardsley hill where there used to be Coach and Horses, and The Pheasant....both summat else now. Only 'Dirty Dicks' club in Ardsley where you can a beer now. hth

We went on Bank Holiday Monday the Mrs is into ghosts and psychics and all that crap, she spend an hour reading all the newspaper cuttings of the stories about the so-called spooky going ons in the Golden Fleece. I didn't mind it meant more drinking time for me. Her mate is also a 'psychic' not a very fcking good one considering she text her at 6:15am Saturday morning so if she was worth her salt she should have known we where fast asleep.
Great city is York. If I had to choose a city to live in it'd be there. Great history, culture and architecture and the nightlife is excellent too.
