You've captured it to a "t".
I appear to have become embroiled in a debate with Joey Deacon's writing group.

just wondering, do donny have an internet forum? or do they just spell out a web address on their pullout tables with the letters from boggle?
The problem they have is that all keyboards in Doncaster are 16' wide because the keys have to be like the ones on calculators for visually impaired people because without opposing thumbs they just get frustrated and bang the keyboards randomly. Hence the musings of OH DONNY BOY (caps lock full on) and his brethren.
People who live in Leeds, as opposed to those passing through, are actually quite difficult to understand and do have an accent. They just don't seem to hardly open their mouths so it comes out as a bit of an incoherent mumble.
We have evolved We live in houses you know and actually work to earn money so we can buy food and clothes. Why do i bother? The words house and work are unknown to you!
There's a reason why the Barnsley dialect is so strong, but you guys are not going to like it. Areas with strong local dialects tend to be of historically insular and 'untouched areas'. The reason why say, Doncaster's dialect is not strong is due to its geographical location and its assimilation of migrates travelling north to south and vica-versa. The Barnsley dialect derives from the Saxon language. I once read a 12th Century recorded transcript between 2 locals from what is now the Barnsley region, talking about the moon...and some words are noticeable in today’s dialect. But, here comes the 'don't like part’...because of the lack of outsiders travelling through Barnsley in years gone….. intra-family relationships were common place to the extent that today, in Barnsley, surname diversity as a percentage of the population is very low compared to Sheffield, York and Doncaster.
Wrong People from all over the country came to work in the mines,Elsecar used to have it's own scotch village and im sure this is the case in other districts
No, it's right. A lot of our dialect is based on Saxon - laikin, silin it darn etc. We didn't get the French influence that other areas did. The language has diluted a lot, but in evolution terms it's a recent development.
Loads of Polish in the area too. utter B*ll*cks. Did not get any poncy feckers here who did not want to do a hard days graft on t' coil face. Explain in those terms then a cockney accent..still very strong today in the one of the worlds most cosmopoiltan cities...or a brum accent or a weegie accent...need I go on.
