We were 41 for 3 before lunch but you might blame early morning, dewy conditions on that. The start was delayed because Headingley was wet.

176 for 3 now with Lyth steaming along towards his first hundred of the season and Bairstow just picking up where he left off last season.

Really enjoying this end to our BFC season, and I hope it goes on towards late May, but it is good to have cricket back again. Signs of warmer, sunnier days ahead.

Adam Lyth 103 not out. Keep doing this and ignore the England calls!

Have Yorkshire not selected Root and Willey, or have the ECB said they can't play. Because all the other England players are playing.

Scored over 230 runs in a session.

    Bairstow on for double ton
Plunkett on for a rapid century.

JB just passed his 200. Phenomenal batting and tremendous knocks from Plunkett and Rashid as well.

Sat here listening to the commentary and wondering why the HELL I didn't pop down to Headingley this morning. I can get there in 20 minutes. Bad decision!!

The ECB has brought in a new rule to even things up - this season Yorkshire are only allowed to bat once per match, rather than the usual twice, to give the others a chance.

Unnecessary bit of legislation that. Yorkshire only NEED one innings per match. Fantastic, destructive, two fingers up to the ECB.

Go Jonny go, terrific double hundred in tough conditions. What a star this lad is hope he gives it some in the Test Matches this summer.

Dammit....Liam Plunkett is 94 at lunch. What's the betting he comes back out and lashes out, getting bowled without getting his hundred. Hope not though.

Chances are we will give him a little time to get three figures and then get into them. Could be a two and a half day all over game.

Normal service. Welcome back Yorkshire

Here is a remarkable statistic - 236 runs scored in the morning session. Probably unheard of in country cricket history. It's the kind of bowling teams put out when they are trying to get the opposition to declare. I would prefer to believe that Hampshire have just been swept away though.

Jonny Bairstow homing in on his career best score - not many needed.
Liam Plunkett homing in on a century. And this is a fast bowler, not a batsman.

Incredible stuff going on at Headingley

Jonny has passed his highest career score
Liam has notched a century - only needs a few more for his highest score

Who says cricket is boring?? ;)

I think we can write Root off to be honest. Let him do his stuff for England. Yorkshire have no need of him.

Just got the second 200 partnership of the innings (Bairstow and Plunkett).

JB is well past his highest ever score. Plunkett has passed his highest as well.

Amazing stuff! Shame it's only against a "minor county" - Hampshire  We need to do something similar to the likes of Lancashire and Middlesex.
