"If you lose in the final, you are out of pocket," he said. "The FA say our share of the semi-final gate could be around £250,000 to £400,000. The winners of the FA Cup get £1m, but no TV money – despite anaudience of over 500 million." Is this right ! Say 70,000 for each semi with average price per ticket of £35. total receipts = £4.9M. If each team were to get £400k = £1.6M It says clubs get 65% of income less costs, and that rental is 32% - does this mean that only 33% of income before other costs is distributed. £4.9m x 33% = £1.6M. So wembley takes £1.6M rent, and then another £1.6M in costs i.e. almost 2/3 of the gate + all merchandising, food etc. ROBBING BARSTEWARDS
I'd hardly say clubs were "out of pocket" if they lose in the final, given the prize money gained from a cup run, increased merchandise sales etc. Ok, they may not be gaining directly from being in the final, but then again they got prize money for winning the semi.
