Really good decision to put Lancs in there from Patterson - at least he's had the good grace to Bowl 25 overs after such a shocking call. Yorkshire only likely to be saved by yesterday being a write off.

Play abandoned for the day after one of the young Yorkshire players slipped on the outfield and collided with the concrete at the base of the Western Terrace. Really didnt look good at all - outfield was then inspected and deemed unsafe as water was seeping up to the surface.

Not nice at all by the looks of it for young Leech.

looks like we'll come in 2nd place if lancs declare in the morning, no bonus pts so far to their 3,
on the plus side we'll carry over a few pts into the next stage with a draw,
can't find any videos of the leech incident but the fans were supposed to have given the umpires some pillock

I make that lancs 1pt in front. As it stands. Assuming they were less than 350 after 110 Overs, ( I bow to your knowledge on that one.) Hopefully we have a similar day tomorrow on the loss of wickets front.
Whatever happens I reckon There’ll be very little difference between any of the six teams in the top division. Probably down to single figures (top to bottom) looking at the score prospects in the other matches.
Looks like it’s going to be close. Anyone’s title.
TBF to Yorks we’ve probably suffered far more than any other team. Given 5 have been/are in England’s ranks.

yes, they got 3 bonus us 0
we'd need to be 250/2 close of play tomorrow to pip them
lancs will take 11pts plus half of whatever from this game into next stage, we may get 4 if lucky

Do we not get both get 5 points for a draw mate. ? I struggled with the explanation on that front ( on the format rules) . Made no sense. Says 8points each for a tie. ( that ain't going to happen)

    Scoring of PointsCounty Championship

A team is awarded 16 points for a victory, with both sides earning eight points for a tie and five points apiece if a match is drawn. Any points scored in the first innings is added on.

What makes it more confusing. Is we've recieved 8 pts for each draw as it stands.

we got 1pt away v lancs, so that's half a point, if we draw tomorrow but bowled out cheaply in 1st inns we'd get 8pts for the draw making 9 in total v's lancs, half that to take into next stage but not sure if they're using the 0.5
lancs will be on at least 33 v's us plus whatever bowling pts, so will take in around 17/18 pts start into next so it'd be a decent head start on us for title
    confused? ;-)

    they probably changed the scoring

Teams receive 16 points for a win and 8 for a draw or tie. Bonus points (a maximum of 5 batting points and 3 bowling points) may be scored during the first 110 overs of each team's first innings.

A tie is completely different to a draw, believe it or not.

I get that. But as Yorkshire have not been involved in any Ties. ( only in 1 dayers occasionally. I associate a tie as scores level at the end of play) We have 24pts from 3 drawn games. ? .

OK, but you could get anything between 5 and 13 points for a 'draw'. 5 for the draw itself and 0 - 8 bonus points. (I think it's 8 anyway)

Been scouring the internet Andy. Found this on the Skysports site. Hope it’s cleared it up lol.

    Any other changes?
Teams will now earn eight points for a draw as opposed to the previous five.

Also the top team will be crowned champions. And then the top 2 will contest the Bob Willis trophy. Over a 5 day match.
    ( I think :))

there was talks of top of group 2 and 3 going for the bob will trophy, but then the 3rd best team would end up with nothing and possibly the 6th worst team winning it

Match finally Abandoned this morning, Yorkshire carry 4.5 points forward to top the group. Embarrassing state of the pitch though, problems with drainage have been around ever since they built that stand - no rains since Monday evening and its still not fit to play. Serves them right for abandoning Scarborough!

All rather embarrassing that a couple of days of no rain and sunny weather cannot get an international ground fit for purpose.

most likely teams through to 1st group are notts warwicks yorks lancs hampshire somerset, though gloucester still a very tiny chance with game still playing,
pass on all the points taken forward to next stage but we start on 4.5 and lancs on 16.5

Seems bonkers to me. The points scoring system. All I can gather its cos we lost at old trafford. God knows how it works out like that. Unless you're god. Korky and know how. :)
In layman's if you know mate.
