However the main worry is that he WILL be fit for the World Cup.

Personally i was hoping he would be out for the summer.

    Bugger!

    This does not help

    here we go again...

The best thing that could happen to England, apart from a fully firing Rooney playing, is for him to be injured and out of the World Cup altogether. Could do without all the hype of "Wayne" getting back to full fitness. He's a real confidence player in my view.

Kind of agree with Chef Tyke here. I don't understand all the Rooney hating, he's clearly one of our best players and despite often disappointing for his country I still think we're better with him than without him.

That said, you're spot on about him when he's back from injury. You may as well not bother playing him. He usually takes 4 or 5 games to get up to speed, if he was a racehorse he would not like running 'fresh'. In the last three tournaments he's been on top form for Man U mid season only to pick up niggly injuries or suspensions just before the tournament starts and then he's disappointed. Full fit and on form Rooney or nothing for me.

Agree with you both. A fully fit on form Rooney is a great player. Wayne Rooney coming back from injury is neither use nor ornament. As we've seen in just about every tournament he's played in since the first one, which he got injured during. Now he's picked up this injury I wouldn't take him. We will though and we'll play him. He'll do nowt, the side will struggle and he'll shoulder a lot of the blame. Better for both him and the team if he doesn't go. Not that he'll see it that way.

Rooney is crap coming back off an injury because he's naturally a fat nacker.

We alway, always go into a world cup carrying a tired squad, injuries on key players, and the England team not having played enough games together as a fixed ix. Why does anyone wonder why we're ****? Even when we've had promising teams like 1998, 2002 and 2006.

A tweet I saw summed the Roomey situation up perfectly.

'We'll play all of the English Liverpool lads for England who've been brilliant but then waste them by fitting them round Rooney'

Which is exactly what happened in one of the most recent friendlies where Roy played Sturridge on the left wing.

It's an unwritten rule that the team has to be built around Rooney

Exactly. We look a more cohesive unit without Rooney. I am convinced he has a detrimental effect on the psyche of the other players and hence the team. Not for me, better TEAM wiart him, fit or not.

No wonder we struggle if we only play with 9 men.

    He's decent.

Not a patch on the genuine best attacking players in the world: Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, Messi, Diego Costa, whoever.

He's decent, but unless he's scored five goals in the first five minutes, brainless England fans who see England in the same way Sheffield Wednesday fans see Sheffield Wednesday, castigate him. Or maybe England fans (I'm not one) don't see England that way and it's just a media thing, but that's the impression I get.

Rooney for Man U is a threat.

Rooney for England is a forward spending too long out of position, thinking he's a one man team getting in the way in the wrong positions. Or dropping in between midfield and defence and trying a stupif ball to concede possession.

I'd take him but Sturridge should be the main man for me. Rooney complicates things dropping way too deep thinking he's better than what he is.
