.... but overall the manager is doing well. In spite of the garbage at Brighton the squad seems better than last year. Is it Hill's fault that 33,000 players are injured???? The only criticism I have of the squad as such is that we are still weak at centre half and I don't think, as I've said all along, that Foster is good enough. I also dont think Hassell is good enough at this level either but because he seems to have a cult following no doubt I'll get some stick...

I agree with all your points with the exception of the point about Sir Bobby who is still good enough IMO. Then again I am part of the cult so you'll never convince me to the contrary. Other than that a very fair and balanced assessment.

Sentiments got nothing to do regarding Hassell, its simple, he's one of the best, if not the best defender at the club. He's 4 times the player Wiseman is, but Wiseman is a keef signing, so unfortunately he'll always get the nod in front of Bobby. If Hassell's not good enough to play at this level, then we're in a desperate situation.

The voice of reason where Hassell is concerned (well one of two).

Problem is thats not too hard is it, you dont have to be a world beater to be the best defender at Oakwell

He's still the one of the best if not the best defender at the at the moment, therefore common sense says play him until someone is good enough to replace him. Stones no doubt will eventually, but not just yet.

Exactly. There are four places up for grabs in our defence and Bobby can play every one of them as well as any other player at the club yet he still can get a place in the starting eleven. He can also play in front of the back four and do a pretty good job. Somethings not right if he isn't worth a place in the starting eleven.

Spot on, I should've said right back when talking about Stones replacing him. As you've said his versitality should not be overlooked, particularly at this time with all the injuries. it's not the last 2 defeats that gripe me, its not including our best defender/s

Having a settled defensive back four is becoming Keith Hill's achilles heel.

I am a massive admirer of Bobby Hassell as both a footballer (versatile) and as a bloke (I have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times)........he should be in the strating X1 for me.

I would work on the following back 4:-

    Stones ..... Hassell ..... Crainie ..... Golbourne

Think Hassell playing at side of Stones will help bring the young lad on?

PS : Tyrone - no need to comment, I know what your resposne will be!
