But that 2nd half performance at Killie has given me a lot of optimism and hope for the new season. First of all the general tempo and urgency was far far far better than any other half of pre-season so far. Wilkinson is much better when the ball is in the air which can only be good in this hoof league, when Smith is confident he is top league 1 standard at the very least, Scowen Rothwell and Pearson all get stuck in which was a big problem this time last year, The 3 CBs look very promising especially Mawson and Templeton still looks quality. We looked a class above Kilmarnock and we didn't even have Winnall or Hourihane on. This is all we need: 2 Wingers- 1 pacy and 1 Good at crossing A proven striker.... i.e McLeod.
Scottish Premiership is no worse that League 1 Agree with what we need, although we do need some cover in full back areas
Killie would probably be a lower end league one side / league two side if they played in England. I'm not trying to say it wasn't a good win but it was only a friendly against an average Scottish side. I'll be a lot happier when we're beating sides from our league.
These friendlies build up the fitness levels and while it's nice to win ultimately they mean nothing. Come 08/08/15 that's when it really matters!
