You wander how such a 'drowning' tragedy could happen in Portugal

    With so many people around including a number of Surfers Why swim in the sea when there are pools all at hand. Tragic loss of life that should have beed avoided.

    swimming in a pool isnt the same as in the sea though is it, some people just like to swim in the sea. I'd much rather have a dip in the sea than in some pool.

    I found it quite ironic given that the tabloid news channel (ITV) ran a Trevor McDonald program the night before asking why people would not dive into water to save the lives of those drowning. I think this is an example of why you should think first, rather than act gung ho. That said I would give up my own life to try and save my daughter - no question.
