A friend of mine who follows Grimsby has told me that Robert Attkinson is playing out of his skin and hopes they buy him. I must say everytime i have seen him he looks like making a very good player , whats the story behind this loan is it a possible permenant thing ?.
Hope not Still a youngster I hope we are loaning him out to get experience not to get rid He looked a good prospect to me - but what do I know
Trouble is he is English and has come from the Academy, so there is no chance we will give him a run in the first team
He Made David Nugent Look Ordinary Last Season Then for whatever reason he got taken back out of the team not long after. He's got to be worth a chance in a defence shipping goals like it's going out of fashion.
RE: He Made David Nugent Look Ordinary Last Season Can't see us letting him go, everyone can see has got talent. Just needs to get plenty of experience under his belt (look how long Nyatanga has been out on loan - most of last season at Sunderland and us, and the first half of this season).
RE: He Made David Nugent Look Ordinary Last Season agreed, probably the best thing for him is to be out and playing well, no good sat in our reserves, let him go get some experience
The daft thing here is... that we send Rob to Grimsby for experience but sign Lewin on loan, with no chance of keeping him. IMHO, if Rob is good enough, get him thrown in rather than helping another teams youngsters
Lets just hope........ ........that Atkinson breaks the recent tradition of academy players being farmed out on loan and eventually leaving for peanuts to play for non league or lower division clubs. How refreshing would it be for him to come back and eventually hold down a regular first team place.
I thought he looked like a good prospect when he's played for the first team, although what would I know! We only seem to let academy products play a handfull of games, go on loan to several clubs and then let them leave for nothing! What happened to the saying if you're good enough you're old enough? take Coulson as an example
