So no George Smith at left back today. Not even in squad. Not got a clue what he's done wrong. This new kid must be a world beater cos I think young Smith was doing ok. Unless the Loanee is signing come end of season it baffles me why we are dropping our own youth product out of the 18 & replacing him with another's teams youth players. Oh well in Johnson we trust.
He needs a rest, been playing non stop. This new left back has played 20 odd games in the Premier League, ever since slide went to Cardiff he hasn't been seen
I think Smithy was developing OK and will be a good player in time. I am a believer though that the younger players need competition as do all of the squad. They also need to be integrated in a controlled manner not just put in the team and left to fend. I think he is developing OK but i always felt it was our weakest position. Young inexperienced lad as our only option in that position. Although he missed the season start, all our young ins have had a good run. His time will come. Seems same happened with Brad Abbott and hopefully his loan will help his development. If he isn't in the squad, which I'm not sure if he is or isn't, it isn't the end of the world and his run can only be good for him. Not even being on the bench though makes me wonder if he is fully fit?
If we have a chance of signing our new loanee it makes sense if not I'm not sure what the point of developing another teams player at the expense of our own is. Maybe he's picked up a knock though.
always used to be common practice in teams that had played youngsters to get them out of the firing line rest up for a bit and develop at a proper pace. Sure that's been explained to him
George Smith took an heavy whack at Gillingham and was limping when getting back on team coach, yes he played against Coventry in mid week, but a rest will do George no harm at all, just look what has happened to James Bree this season.
Re: where have you got todays squad sheet from ? Sucram knows everything. He can be found sitting in the coach's seat. In the boardroom. In the office. In the dugout. Sitting anywhere but in his own seat at the match.
Re: where have you got todays squad sheet from ? He hasn't got an injury. He's told me he's just dropped. And said he may be included in the 18 but not sure as of yet.
Re: where have you got todays squad sheet from ? If he's injured then that's fair enough. But if our 'head coach' is dropping a defender off the back of four clean sheets in a row and we conceed a goal today he will be open to critisism for tinkering with something that wasn't broken.
Smiths done okay but a better footballing left back could make a massive difference to us. Just hope he's a sound as Smith defensively.
Re: where have you got todays squad sheet from ? Indeed I do all the above. And I will be taking your seat today my friend. Lol
I need it does lol. But I can only state was the lad tells me. If the new LB doesn't get into the 18 man squad then I'll I fan think of is that he's not fit enough yet.
he was probably just seeing if he could trust you with a secret and whether you'd go blurting it out on a football board or not.
