Regarding the FA Cup I mean.

I'm listening to Luke Potter saying the pressure is off today. What? It chuffin shouldn't be.

This is the FA Cup. The greatest competition in world football, if not world sport. A competition steeped in history, where every club in the land, whether top flight or amateurs can have a go. When player salary goes out of the window and the dreamers can have their day.

When did the FA Cup lose respect? When did it become more of a fixture annoyance to the Premier League freakshow? Players should be growing up fantasizing about playing in this competition.

League games are that expensive teams have to drop prices to get fans to watch a 3rd round matches and most top teams do see the game as a rest to players and give others a run out.

Really with the formation of the Premier league - the money involved make it far more important for teams to stay in the Prem than progress in the cup - so its become a lower priority. Once clubs stop taking it seriously the fans start losing interest as well. to a lesser extent the same now happens in the Championship.

Its a shame as when I was young we all went to first round cup games with as much enthusiasm as 4th and then 3rd division games
