For me... ...Arsenal away '97-'98. Despite getting thumped. With my dad and best mate, met up with distant family gooner ST holders. Made a weekend of it, topped off with beer, Chinese, some cool films and t'inter city. Mid teens. Arsenal were sparking, but I was so proud to be a Tyke that day. Continually thinking, if Arsenal hadn't cheated their way into the top flight, it could have been our legacy?!

Funnily enough, years later, I visited again, playing a good role in Highbury's conversion to flats.

Wembley v Cardiff without a doubt

Complete with getting locked out of my hotel room bollok naked the night before the game.

Cardiff play off was good but went there and back in a day so doesn't really count.

Too many to choose from. Ipswich at Wembley was good that was a 3 day excursion. Another one that stands out was Everton away in the Premiership we ended up not getting back until Monday morning, we were only meant to be staying for one night.

Too many to mention, London weekends as young uns generally d1£king about getting off the train at ST Pancras drunk as a rat and heading straight to the pubs around Leicester Square, 2 Blackpool trips and we didn't even play Blackpool 1 game was Preston on a Friday night under Bassett, about 18 went over from Wombwell and we ended up sharing 2 rooms between us. Another Blackpool trip was Wigan the game they won promotion remember trying to throw my mattress out of the 11th floor window in the Hilton at 3am. Taking a Horse & Cart down to the pleasure Beach and coming back from the pleasure beach on a skateboard wearing a pair of boxing gloves.

Now I'm older and not so wiser the best weekend away would have to be Norwich last season & I'm sure a poster on here will agree!!!

Also at Brighton in the 80's

Think it was the 80's???? Stopped at Courtlands Hotel where the team were staying. Ended up having some snap with Mel Machin, John Deehan and John Dennis.

Taggart scored on his debut and they equalised in the 470th minute of extra time.

I made a weekend out of Swansea at Cardiff, enjoyed it a lot like, but the problem was, there weren't many town fans out either night, most seemed to go home. Tonnes of Grimsby fans the 2nd night I seem to remember...

Wembley was fantastic ... Really enjoyed that inspite of the result, but the stand out one for me was Liverpool in the cup. Didn't even stay over, (so not a proper weekender), although it felt like it after such a long day, but it was one of the best days of my life. alityke I'm sure will vouch for me... It was just fun from start - 8:30am to finish- about 2:30am when my head hit the pillow.

Wembley for me - the longest "weekend" ever as it was a one-week return trip from Calgary. Despite the result, well worth it for the experience of seeing Barnsley at Wembley, and for meeting up with a Barnsley fan in the departure lounge at Calgary airport and remaining good friends ever since (we'll be watching the game together this weekend).

Portsmouth 90's, last game of season, fancy dress, liddle made his debut. Stayed in Bournemouth (didn't look far on the map, how naive we were). Only thing I remember was that I was dancing to "I'm too sexy for my shirt" in a poxy club (like I say, naive)

Me and my younger sister went to that game. Drove down from uni. Scorching hot. got photos here somewhere.
Not sure what we did afterwards, but I suspect it involved staying over.

Were you wearing an ooh Gerry Gerry bandage?

Beating Leeds united at home 3-2 first year back up after promotion. Every home game was a weekend away in those days, and that was an absolute belter.

My 30th birthday party in London was the night before, somehow made up to kings cross for train next day despite being nearly dumped by my (now actually) ex-lass for various justifiable reasons. Demolished an extraordinary amount of ale and spirits between us on the way up. Beat the scum and somehow ended up in players lounge drinking with Disco. Loko disappeared when we equalised after being thrown out but managed to chat up a female copper (allegedly) who let him back in just in time for the winner.

Then back out again for more ale. Like we needed any

Ohh the days, what time was that train we always caught off Wombwell for the London games with our scammed £10 returns? And the Bear and Staff - its still there isn't it? That Preston one on the Friday night was a good one, l managed to get a bed in one of those rooms, so it was ok. We were on about doing an old London trip again and getting the old faces involved, we used to do 5-6 a season at one point, l had a loyalty card for The Flying Scotsman!

ESL - Palace away that year was a good one when we stayed in the hotel up near Kings Cross.

We used to leave Wombwell at 6:30 to catch the 7:15 to London.

Did you go to Fulham on a Sunday when everyone turned up at Sheffield pi55ed up and Beadle spewed up on the bank machine? That was another great day.

Is the Palace game the 1 where we got asked to leave the train at Chesterfield or was that a different Palace trip?

plymouth other season springs to mind, weekend away travelled down with the rising sun, drinking on way down spending day in plymouth drinking in pubs, met up with the granddad who'd id not seen for about 5 years, stayed out all night knocking some shapes out in flares, going to casino at 5am to watch hatton get knocked out by manny p. had to get up for 9am that morning, everyone straight back on the ale and went to watch the match which for what happened during the game, (think norwich went 1-0 and we looked like going down) and i think plymouth scored first then goals from jcr & hammill kept up up, was a good game and party atmosphere.

on way back on the bus i must have slept all the way home but woke up to notice we were stuck in a traffic jam, barnsley fans were playing football on motorway, 3 black women got on bus to use the bog then a few miles down had cardiff fans on other side of the motorway (coming back from sheff wed after they had missed out on playoffs) and remember bus full of barnsley fans giving them some **** (think the cardiff fans then smashed windows of a bus a few behind us)
