I'm not going round pubs putting posters up as a volunteer :D
Especially when there are people employed at the club to promote the interests of the club........and you never hear owt from them

I know Shep has done a fantastic job balancing the books and appointing SD when most, including myself, didn't want him
BUT...............when it comes to generating interest in the club.........there's nowt coming out of the WELL (zzz)
Have we got a media officer at the WELL ?????

We need to be targeting certain areas, Wakefield area for one, and getting some news out..........but there's nowt

Do yer know, if I were the media officer at the club and there wasn't owt to report to the television or newspapers, then I'd make summert up and leak it
Example................a local club has offerd £6 million for Brian Howard........(this can't be proved one way or another can it so its a good story to leak)
We need to be the lead story throughout Yorkshire

Plus Shep needs to be looking at incentives to get people back through the gates
Example £10 per adult for the next 3 home matches
Football is a habit..........start watching TARN for a few weeks and you will want to keep going.....break the habit over a few weeks and yer can't be bothered to get ready to go

If we just rely soley on people returning to the club because of good results then this could take years

You should apply for a job there

I feel the same as you mate....they could do so muchmore.

Till then though we have to do what we can to get crowds down to Oakwell. These community days are a start.

I don't see a lot of evidence the players promoting the club

School visits, Hospital Visits, Sports days, A local football 'tournament' would help get all the area youngsters involved. With the finals on the pitch. You just have to go to our locally organised events to see the following, you cant park a car within half a mile. But you are right perhaps the 'oakwell' staff are limited to what they are able to do.

Another idea (I used to be a Sales Promotion Manager'

Take a half page spread in the 'Chronicle' with a tear off voucher to get a reduction for non season ticket holders. Sure the Chron would do a decent rate, afterall it would sell papers. Should have been in the Fridays edition for the match tonight.

I applied for Marketing job at Oakwell...

...twice and didn't hear anything back- not even a f*ck off even though I'm a season ticket holder and have more Marketing qualifications than you can shake a stick at!

The marketing at BFC is lacking. I know bigge rclubs have more money but we could borrow a few ideas from the likes of Man UTD.

You'd have the media officer making up bids for players?!

Yes, I can see how that would be a good move! (doh)

Well said.

The supporters trust seems to be taking on/being given a lot of responsibility for things that I would have expected the club to do.

Marketing/advertising. This is the club's job not a group of supporters.

A notice in the ST's page of the programme a few weeks ago saying that the club has asked the supporters trust to remind all fans that they shouldnt be parking in the disabled bays unless theyre disabled. Can anyone explain exactly why the club had to ask the supporters trust to ask the club to put this on their page of the programme when it's the clubs own programme? Surely this kind of statement should come from the club, not alan bloore.

We must have so much money that 10k gates are all we need

Why go out and work for it when its in the bank
Obviously the directors see no urgency in generating more income through increased gate receipts
