Had to have some tests done at my Doctors the other week. Mum was told on Friday results were back and that I had to see the Dr. as something wasn't right. Just been to be told that the results show I could have a problem with my kidneys!

Mum has asked for the results to be faxed to My Consultant Nephrologist (Kidney specialist) at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

    Thank you for the messages

It was just the way he said it. His face was a picture when Mum "reminded" him I had been suffering from Kidney Failure all my life.

Think we'll be seeing one of the other Drs. in future.

    Never forget

They don't know everything. I think I told you once of the time when my GP asked me to stand up & walk to him!

    I can remember that.

It's a bit much though when a locum knows more about me/my illness than the Dr. who has known me all my life.

    I'll be fine.

We take it all onboard. Every year I have been ill at Christmas and Mum and Dad have managed to keep me out of hospital despite being advised to go and get checked out by our Drs. They(mum and dad) contact the Consultants at Sheffield/Nottingham and are told to monitor and if in doubt go straight to Sheffield.

    Hey Laura

Just to check - does this show something unexpected or is it just that the doctor is clueless - even I know you have kidney problems already and I dont claim to be a doctor or owt- just hoping its not something new and badder

    The way he was talking

suggested he didn't know I had problems so Mum suggested sending the results to Dr Moss at Sheffield and he asked who "he" was.

Dr Moss is a female and my Consultant at Sheffield that I have been seeing since I was 1 year old. The results are being faxed to her so if there is a problem she will be able to suggest what to do.

    Thanks All.

I think it's more a case of not worrying as we're used to things by now, but "gobsmacked" that the GP didn't realise (or seem to) that Laura had suffered from Chronic Renal (Kidney) Failure all her life.

At least the test results will be checked by someone who has Laura's previous results to hand.

    Hi

Chris says "did he ask to go to the Blue Lagoon afterwards?"

The fridge isn't quite empty but he's definitely eating "proper" food. He has requested that I don't serve pasta or noodles whilst he's home.
