Out of interest, if you play/played football (any level), which position did you prefer? Just choose the one that matches closest - I couldn't the bothered to separate out attacking and defensive midfielder, sweeper, libero forward who plays of the scraps created by the hulking forward etc. etc. Just some idle thoughts at work wondering about which positions prove most attractive and which struggle to be filled on the teamsheet. I always remember wherever I've played, there's always been a glut of right fullbacks (which surprise surprise is where I prefer). I wonder if this filters through to professional football where aspiring players have to change their role to suit demand. I'm guessing that centre forward will be popular for obvious reasons and it's already looking like the left side is one of the problem areas, no doubt due to the majority of right footers. Cheers.
to be fair i used to play in goal but in a mini match with my mates id play as a CF but i couldnt choose two so i picked centre forward/striker
Laiked all over. Currently play for Pensitone Church at Right Back. Been there 8 years now, started as a striker, then central midfield ( where i won a player of the year award) now im a Right Back/Right Midfielder. Can play anywhere on the field though tbh, doesnt bother me.
I was going to include an "I'll play anywhere" option but wanted to force people to choose a position to stop any fence sitters! I take your point though, some people are good enough to play anywhere. Likewise, others are equally terrible wherever they play! I was fairly happy so long as I wasn't a halfback. Rabbit in the headlights time.
Play upfront for BBSFC... But over the years I've played regularly on the left hand side of midfield or in central midfield, and also played occasionally at left back.
Right Winger I wasn't in Beckham's league though lol. During my school days, I did get to the regional cup final and lose. We had the semi finals and final on the same day. We were the second semi and it went to extra time. The other team were rested up nicely and won 3-1.
RE: Same here. oh my knees could take it In fact I've got no excuse not to play, I'm just a lazy teeneager. My fitness levels are the worst they've ever been. Went for a game at Metrodome. I was bloody knackered after 15 minutes.
Started at Junior School as an Inside left.................... then Right Wing at High School and up to the age of about 26, then moved back to Right Back which proved to be my most successful position. As a Coach in my late 40s and early 50s I played Midfield or Defence when we were short. Usually played about half a dozen games a season.
Played as keeper for 20 odd years although when I dislocated my finger I played 5 games up front and scored 5 goals, 3 headers , 1 volley and 1 off my arse Never understood why others make it look so difficult to score.
