Yep, and the more time you spend cultivating your taste the less easily pleased you'll be so by any stretch of the imagination it's counter-productive. Personally, if my Alpine goat-herders yoddling trance doesn't have the seminal cow-bell on the third beat then it's a pile of commercial, sold-out, middle-of-the-road crap.
