It won't be a landslide I don't think, but he'll win I reckon. He's very high profile and his party have a lot of Asian support.

The population of Bradford West is 47% non-white so he'll get a good showing, plus I reckon a higher proportion of the asian community will vote, maybe not but the turnout won't be great either way, plenty of apathy doing the rounds. Hardly surprising given we have two of the big three parties in government and making a pigs ear of it, and the opposition led by somebody who has very little presence and seems quite anonymous - he's my mp too.

People should be careful though, Doncaster folk got sick of labour, and voted in an English democrat as mayor. The pillock is so useless, we're having a vote next month to abolish the elected mayor system completely! All the mps for donny are labour tho, including red ed. Who will just about survive losing Bradford West I reckon. Assuming he does lose it.

10,000 clear votes? Impressive. 15% reduction in turnout from 2010 tho, Tories lost as many votes as labour.

Galloway split the labour vote. Not really very sensational.

You are jokeing,Labour have held that seat for decades, 51% turn out is pretty good. From a standing start he got nearly 50% of the vote , Labour were expecting to get a 10 to 12,000 majority

Ive just been reading about it, very interesting indeed.

I think it shows that people have had enough of the bullsh1t from the 3 main parties.

Why should it be curtains for Ed? Single issue candidate standing in an area where this particular single issue will have a lot of support.

I think there is a general and growing disillusionment with mainstream politics in this country. The result in Bradford, while bad for the Lib Dems and embarrassing for the Tories was an outright disaster for Labour.

I agree but it is not that big a shock really is it? Gorgeous George is nothing but astute and he knew that his single issue platform would resonate in that area.

Wasn't the Labour party candidate of Asian descent? You're right about Galloway though; a slimy odious individual but an astute politician all the same.

I wonder if he'll get voted out at the next election, as happened in Bethnal Green, when his constituents realise he doesn't bother turning up in the House for any votes.

Good point. I think the chances of him holding the seat at the next election are extremely slim.

Cringe-worthy in the extreme but his meeting with Saddam trumps everything else he's done.
