http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Bu...Administration_-_Music_Games_And_DVD_Retailer Music, games and DVD retailer Zavvi - formerly known as Virgin Megastore - has gone into administration, endangering more than 3,000 jobs. The move has been confirmed by auditor Ernst & Young. Zavvi Group is the UK's largest independent entertainment retailer with 114 stores across the country. More than 2,000 people are employed full time by the company, with another 1,000 part-time staff on its books across all shops, including the 11 in Ireland. So far, the group's ventures in Ireland are unaffected.
Paying 9.99 the other week in there to buy Stereophonics Decade In The Sun album obviously wasn't enough. Reasonable prices in there for the most part.
They were selling Xbox360 Arcades's for £99 last week - Called into the one in Leeds, but they had no stock left
that's right Zavvi is basically Virgin Megastore. I wonder if them going into administration is anything to do with their main supplier (which is basically woolworths) having gone under. They can't get any new stock and so turned off their internet ordering last week. Without any stock to sell you pretty much have to go into administration don't you?
Chuff sake!!!!! Was better that there was more DVD shops than HMV. Now HMV will bump up their prices no doubt!
Does that mean some New Year bargains? In all seriousness, worrying how so many High Street companies are going up the wall.
