Thanks to everyone who responded to my earlier post suggesting that if you didn't like Davey you should stay away from Oakwell.
The bottom line is if you don't think the manager is up to the job re. tactics, player selection etc then you're not going to be able to support him or his team.
If you can't support the manager why bother coming.

If you think that 'the club needs you' (it may not!) then simply donate the price of a seson ticket to the club and stay away.

thanks

I may not agree with the manager's tactics but that sure as hell is not going to stop me supporting my Tarn and club!

if you pay you're money then you're

entitled to an opinion.it will take a massive turnaround in fortunes next season for most fans to even begin to warm to sd.if we start next season like last then i can see "davey out "chants resurfacing as early as end of august.

thanks.
The 'Davey out' contingent will probably be the ones who were calling for him to go this season.
What I can't understand is why they will be there next August - surely they can't claim to be supporting the club.

Just because you don't like the manager doesn't mean you can't support the club.

Really, just think before you type.

if you can't support the manager and team between 3.00 and 5.00 on a Saturday afternoon you're not a lot of use to the club.

that depends if you're an advocate for positive change

You are so conceited that you cannot see that if the manager is not good for the club, the fans ought to call for him to leave. If they do that they are doing something for the good of the club. It shows the owner/chairman that there is a weight of support in the town for the club (not necessarily the manager) and that people care enough for him to make a positive decision worthy of the upheaval that comes with change.

i liked Danny Wilson ...

.. should I now be supporting Swindon?

i'm a barnsley fan longer than any manager will ever be Barnsley manager.

Simon davey will go down in recent history with spackman, iley and parkin.

Windy reply.

I've just realised you're the eejit who wrote this -

Born in the Valleys of South Wales to a Scottish father (Shetlands) and a Welsh mother (Merthyr Tydfil) I moved to Barnsley some years ago.

One observsation of Yorkshire folk is that they at their best in adversity. They can cope when things go wrong.

The opposite of this is that they find it difficult to cope with and acept success.

When the team is playing badly the good folk of Barnsley are vocal - sack the manager/board etc.
When the team play well there is an uneasy silence, they don't trust success.

Do the supporters feel able to cope better with the present dogfight for Championship survival than they would if we were pushing for promotion?

What I wonder is could this 'mindset' affect their attitude to the players etc. and do the players/club respond accordingly?

Cheers

I wouldn't have bothered

It's just as daft as your first post.

People support the team and get behind them, doesn't mean they have to be convinced by the manager.

There have only been a few managers in the time I've been a Barnsley fan - 20 or so years - that I've been totally happy with - but I still support and cheer on the team, wear the shirt with pride everywhere I go etc.

I'd advise to put your spade away, stop digging, and be happy.

If everyone who's not happy with Davey didn't turn up

There'd be about 100 people there I reckon.

Yeah that'd be good! :D

I've been watching Barnsley since 1968/69, had a season ticket since 1969/70 and will, yet again, be getting one for next season, too. I don't want Simon Davey as our manager as I don't believe he's up to the job re tactics, player selection etc. & will continue to voice my opinions on here (a public forum, by the way) be they pro or anti Davey. So it appears I'm exactly the sort of person you don't want to be at Oakwell next season, as I fail to meet your unilaterally conceived criteria of a true fan. That being the case, may I suggest you either don't read my posts, or place me on you 'ignore' list, as I refuse to dance to the beat of your drum.
