I'd take him on a free transfer. He was a good loanee, but if we brought him back he'd have to play more often.
Did he play right sided wing back at times? Lincoln away? Would be good back up if J Williams was to go which I think would be likely.
I'd be happy for us to sign him especially if his wages are reasonable. If he's given a regular run of games I can see him coming on in leaps and bounds.
it’s whether he’ll get that though I guess. Wouldn’t have a problem with him signing, for continuity, but I’d imagine there are options out there as good
I get what you're saying but assuming he signs a 3 yr contract which would make sense for a signing with so much potential then he will get opportunities at some point. Obviously depends on wages but I think he's a great fit for us long term.
Left back for 3 games in place of Cadden. (When he got suspended) played well tbf. Forest Green, Lincoln and Oxford.
Lincoln away he was absolutely awful in an attacking sense, although to be fair Lincoln were so negative it was tough for anyone trying to create anything. That's not to say I don't want us to sign him. I think he'd be a very good squad player, with a lot of potential. It just depends whether we can afford such players.
I thought he slowed a lot of our attacking play down, which was a key factor in us never really looking like scoring. However, he was hardly alone in this, and playing against a side who have set up for 0-0 at home is never easy.
I thought he was trying to make things happen, but was getting little support from the players around him, and often had to go backwards. I recall Phillips being particularly poor that game.
Phillips and Kane were both awful. Hard to say who was to blame for our lack of attacking threat. I just remember Larkeche checking back a lot, but you're right in that it could easily have been down to lack of support. It's not always clear on the TV what's happening on the parts of the field away from the ball.
I didn't think Kane was awful in that match, just unable to make an impact. Lincoln looked to have done their homework and knew how to play us. Breaking down teams that were prepared to sit in was a problem a few times for us last season and Lincoln were masters at it. They isolated Phillips and removed his threat and ensured that Kane would mostly receive passes to run onto and were able to outdo him for pace easily. Lack of movement around him meant Larkeche had little option but to check back most times. It wasn't a good team performance. I feel like we needed to try and switch play from wing to wing quicker than we did in an effort to stretch them more and create gaps. I thought Larkeche was promising every time we used him. Not the finished article but definite potential - hence the reason he was on loan at a third tier club. If he's available for the right value within the wage structure and willing to learn (possibly even learn new positions) then I'd be happy with his signing.
