Ah, sorry, my apologies. You didn't make it clear in your original post that what you were actually protesting about was the cost of transporting and installing and expensive work of art (of which you don't actually know how much it is costing the council or, indeed, whether it is actually costing the council anything) that the council had secured a free loan of, in order to attempt to make the town centre a little more attractive to prospective investors.

Far be it, of course, for me to suggest that your original post was nothing more than a knee jerk whinge that you made without any consideration of the facts and that the deflection to the transport and installation cost was made out of embarrassment when this was pointed out to you, because backing down would indicate some sort of weakness or failure on your part.

Having a piece of public art for the people of Barnsley is no different to having a cinema, a library or a football club. Shall we close them too? What about schools? Waste of money?

Always a problem with art and culture. Art is firstly subjective in terms of it being good or bad. Secondly many people think culture has no obvious value, that because the effects can't be physically measured that it's a waste of money/time etc.

    This is of course nonsense.

So a lump of rusty steel is the same as a school I would much rather they spent it on schools

A funeral for an old lady who whilst in office divided the people of the nation I would much rather they spent it on schools.

You're wasting your time on this mate. he (Tyrone1) started the thread and obviously wants to have the last word on it as well despite being shot down every time by various posters. I think the ignore option is the best option for this poster.
Gets ready for the" ask the Full Ponty" response

ZZZzzzzzzz, but Just before i use the ignore option, Its not a scrap piece of metal, and I welcome any initiative or action that will contribute to helping make the Town centre more pleasing on the eye. Whatever this council does, it will not meet with your approval because you appear to think only the Tories can improve us. Though where the evidence is to support this notion is beyond me. Anyway I won't respond to you anymore so it's pointless asking me anything else. If I need to know anything else I'll see if I can contact the Full Ponty eh.

It might if it was public money but I believe most of the money has come from a grant that wouldn't otherwise have been available

So you want the council to give OUR money to a private enterprise to invest? Batshit mental. You've no idea what you want just to have a moan.
