Being a socialist, basically. Half a dozen of us were accused of being members of Militant, load of ********, but the party didn't want any "radical" members at the time as Kinnock was leading us to New Labour. Thought it would be even worse now

This "anti-austerity" slogan trips off the tongue so easily, as sounded by Nicola Sturgeon over the past few weeks. So explain what you mean, what would your preferred government do?

If you spend/spend/spend on a credit card, there comes a time when you have to pay off what you owe. In this case, you then have to spend LESS, and tighten your belt to pay BACK what you owe.

How does this differ from borrowing on a national scale? Last year, with interests rates world-wide at record lows, £886 of my income tax bill was my contribution in paying off the INTEREST on the national debt. Not the debt itself, just the interest.

So with your proposal (I assume) for yet more borrowing, I fear what my contribution and others might be years hence when interest rates rise, as they will, and the national debt even larger.

There are a few left who still fly the flag but like I say it is a dirty word. There is a lot of fear of what it would mean - too many ****ing Blairites but now they might see what has done this - it isn't a move to the left it is seemingly not standing for anything different...

That is what has come back to haunt Labour. Wrong Milliband elected due to the trade unions. It must be one of the first times in history that the unions have shafted the working population.

i apologise profusely.... Barnsley is a thriving metropolis, with world class shopping malls, a growing economy and loads of attractions to entice visitors to the town.

nah..... i think i will stick to my original perception of my once thriving hometown.....and yes the Tories will probably speed up its decline. However gods knows how many years of Labour Council hasn't done a great deal either has it?

5/1 now, Dan. But what's the chance of the other Miliband getting it...?

Last few times I've seen Chukka interviewed he terminated the interview prematurely. That alone would disqualify him as a suitable candidate for the job in my opinion.

Chuka is gaffe-prone and out of his depth, Andy Burnham has Mid-Staffs on his CV so I reckon David Miliband would be their best bet if he'd come back.

David Milliband is no longer an MP so there's little or no chance. I have little opinion on Chukka either way but I suspect he will be the man heir to Blair etc.

Didn't David Miliband quit politics in 2013. I believe he works in New York. I doubt if he would be tempted to return. I always believed he would have made a better Labour Party leader than his brother.
