After many many years of being associated with Barnsley FC message board - in all its different Admin forms, it is becoming more and more apparent that if you don't have the same view as the majority then there's no place for you on this message board. Subsequently this message board is becoming increasingly STALE and populated by people who's only concern is to fit in. Proper debate is dying and Admin are watching it happen. Name calling has now become the norm and Admin are watching it happen. Bigots are ruling the roost and Admin are watching it happen.
But if that know it all person gets it wrong - which they do on a regular basis on here - and I'm not just talking about comments about myself here - then the whole message board spirals down into TROLL CENTRAL. And that's where we are right now - and your post is a typical example that just reinforces that.
I often feel quite isolated politically on here and at times I avoid getting involved in some debates because I just don't see the point. I challenged you in another post, I thought you were wrong and I made my point in response to you - that is debate. I've read many of your posts over the years and I think you make some valid points but I also disagree with some of your opinions. That doesn't make me right and you wrong or vice versa but when you say something like you did about Mair I think your initial viewpoint is going to be challenged and quite forcefully because it's a very emotive subject. For the record I genuinely don't think you're a racist or a bigot but I do think you can be controversial, sometimes unnecessarily so.
Now that's what I call a good post - pity there ain't more like this. As I've often said on here - I'm not bothered how many times people say I'm wrong or that others are wrong - but when people accuse others of being wrong then in my view they have to give a reason why they think that person is wrong. Just calling someone names and trolling is just undermining everything what a message board is all about. Surely any message board like this is built on two basic aspects: 1) News from the club 2) Opinions and Debate And regarding Mair - I said I can understand reasons why he did what he did because there are lots of people that have similar views these days - but in none of what I said did I say that I in anyway support what he did - he's obviously a guy that's got caught up in far right literature which has been compounded by the immigration debate attached to Brexit - couple this with a measure of mental instability and this is what can happen.
I've just read the post you're referring to. At no point within it did you condemn what Mair did. If you'd worded it differently you might have got the debate you say you want.
So what you are saying is if you get the replies to your comments that you don't like you are going to have a strop. You know full well what you do when you comment on here. It's all about trying to be controversial and getting a reaction. And please stop playing the victim.
Sorry but I think the sheer volume of postings both pro and anti Brexit over the last 5 months doesn't support your argument. I am not willing to enter into a debate about this. I am right and you are wrong.... oh s**t I see what you mean.
People are debating - they were pulling you up on your apparent justification/rationalising of the slaughter of a young Mother, for no other reason than she was liberal minded. Rather than shout at people for having a go at your argument - justify your premise.
Re Simply put..... The minute someone calls someone they have never met , racist bigot mysoginist little Englander thick stupid remoaner Brexidiot etc. they have lost the argument. In a real debate they would never be acceptable and anyone uttering those words would be censured. You have every right to disagree with someone's point of view as they have the right to express that view. It is the principle of free speech. IF it is controversial or highly contentious then the majority should be capable of rebutting the argument without resorting to foul or abusive language. Unfortunately, there are several on here who consider themselves morally and intellectually superior who, in spite of clearly being educated, nevertheless resort to abusive language because they lack the ability to articulate their argument. Before one of those people (they know who they are) calls me hypocritical I confess to having on a few occasions sunk to that level but only after severe provocation and never when starting a thread e.g.on one occasion been accused of being a "bitter bogot and racist and vile human being", simply for posting my views on uncontrolled migration. I reported this abuse to admin and they pretty much told me to get over it! Racist. is now considered in law to be over-stepping over the limits of free speech and actually now legally regarded defamation which , aimed at someone in front of witnesses, could in some circumstances result in a slander case being brought. (There is legal precedent).
Re: Re Simply put..... Well put - and obviously in a better way than what I did. As you say - when someone lowers themselves to name calling then they have lost the argument. It's usually water off a ducks back as far as I'm concerned and I usually laugh it off. However, I reacted badly to one poster (SuperTyke) on here a few weeks ago because for years he has had nothing constructive to say - just continuously week in week out internet bullying. The result of this was that I was banned for a week. The actions of SuperTyke were not considered by Admin - because it now seems that internet bullying is par for the course on here. It never used to be. One of the Admin team Hicksy had the audacity then to say that it was my action that prevented more people using this message board. That's totally WRONG - it's the inability of Admin to warn or prevent constant trolling (name calling) or internet bullying or whatever you want to call it, by users like SuperTyke that's preventing more people using this message board.
What about having a separate area for all things non football on this Barnsley football club forum. Just a thought
Re: Re Simply put..... As I said yesterday, I don't believe you understand what trolling is. It is not name calling. Trolling is the deliberate method of writing inflammatory material with the point of creating attention for yourself. That is what you do.
Re: Re Simply put..... Nudger, I'm writing this on my way out of the door to work. Last night I was dealing with complaints about other posters that I receive not only by notiifications on here, but also to a family e mail account. Last night, I was late saying Goodnight to my kids because I was wading through the fallout. So I apologise if you feel that Admin are a bit crap, but we do what we can. There is no way I have time to read every single thread. Some members of Admin don't even have time to log on these days. It's not compulsory, it's a voluntary thing. It would help if people didn't behave like kids in a playground; didn't set out to wind people up, and didn't expect Admin to see everything. By the way the incident you referred to, Supertyke received a warning.
A bigot is someone who will not listen to views of others i.e. You !!! As for being a racist - my favourite country is India - I will be having Christmas diner with relatives that are Indian - how many people from other countries will you be having Christmas diner with ??? As alway Jack.........your posts are Tatty
